"A warm welcome to you, this afternoon. On behalf of Paul and I, welcome to the Australian Grand Prix, where the season opener of the 2039 Formula 1 season will take place." Former-F1 driver and world champion, Jenson Button greeted the millions of fans watching at home all around the world.
"Peter Morrison, debut pole with the new Mclaren, with Rafael Alonso in the Williams breathing down on his neck. The two Ferraris have locked out the second row, while Mercedes' Alaia Rosberg starts fifth and Williams driver Victoria Ramsey starts sixth ." Paul Di Resta ran through the starting grid, waiting for all the team's engineers and mechanics to complete their final checks with the car.
Victoria was in her car, third row on the grid, waiting for her engineers to unwrap the tyre blankets.
"Good luck and of course, have fun..." Andy tapped her helmet before shutting her visor down.
Victoria's heart was pounding hard in her chest but she tried to ignore it and slow her breathing. She tightly gripped the steering wheel, trying to calm herself.
The green lights lit up in the HUD of the driver's helmet, indicating them to initiate the formation lap and pull into their grid spots. Peter Morrison led the cars away on the formation lap as the drivers tried to get as much heat in the tyres as possible.
"All five lights are on... And we are racing in Australia! Fantastic start from Peter Morrison, look how much he's already pulling away down into Turns 1 and 2!" Jenson exclaimed, watching as the Brit extended his gap by a few tenths consistently just a couple of corners in.
Victoria went the simplest and safest of starts, trying her best to defend her position instead of risking it for higher track positions.
In the #14 Williams, Rafael couldn't believe how quickly Morrison was pulling away. He was driving much quicker in a track that was supposed to suit the Williams cars.
"What's happening guys...? Is he in Qualy Mode or something?" He talked into the radio.
"We don't know at this moment. But they're still sticking to Plan A. So we're sticking to ours too." His engineer replied.
A couple of turns behind, Victoria was all over Jack Wolff in the Mercedes, waiting for the perfect time to pass the British-Austrian.
"Go for it, Vicki. DRS is available," the beep sound in Victoria's ears indicated the availability of the Drag Reduction System. She immediately punched the yellow button and the rear wing spread wide open as she inched closer and closer to the Mercedes.
Victoria tipped her steering wheel every so slightly to the right before instantaneously veering it back to the left, selling the dummy ever so successfully.
"Whoops..." Victoria joked.
The Williams garage began cheering and applauding as the #15 Williams car moved up into P4.
