Adam's radio suddenly went dead and he lost his communication with the engineers completely. Now he had to depend on pure instincts and the pit boards, which in the torrential rain, were just a blur. Just a flash of luminous yellow wordings and numbers was seen by the race leader heading into the first quarter of the race.
"Vicki, ksshhh.... box... kshhh..." the radio message caused Vicki to punch the Pit-Confirm button, notifying the pit wall, and of course her teammate that she was going to pit.
In Adam's HUD, the PIT icon was then flashing red, informing him that his teammate as confirmed for a pit stop on this very lap. He looked towards the lap times list on his HUD, realising a gradual drop of his lap time before feeling his car losing its back-end exiting the corners. Crossing the line, He punched the Pit-Confirm button, hoping that the pit crews will be ready for him the following lap.
Meanwhile, Victoria had managed to jump Barrichello for third place, moving up to just two seconds behind Lando.
Dragging his car to the pits with near-dead tyres, Adam signalled his engineer to come over. Thanks to the quietness of the battery-powered motor, the duo managed to converse during the pit stop
"Plus 1 on battery! Plus 1!" He shouted to Adam before giving him a thumbs up.
He swerved out of his pitbox, going side by side with Lando, all the way to the exit where Lando had to give way.
But their little tussle let Victoria catch up, and soon it turned into a three-car battle.
"Into Toyota! Still side by side...
... I'm not believing this! They're into Pine Avenue still side-by-side! This fight will definitely be in Victoria's favour. Look at how much she has closed. She was five seconds behind Lando before the start-finish straight but now she's right on his tail! Amazing stuff!"
"Guys, can you ask my dad to pick up his pace? I'm losing time..." Victoria asked, hoping to not be involved in a clash.
"Race cautiously, Vicki." Max informed "We cannot get a hold of Adam as of now."
In front, Adam was trying his best to pull ahead of Lando, doing several switch-back moves and out-braking but to no avail, even after draining the extra battery power.
Heading into the final lap, it was looking like a 3-way battle for the race win. Lando, Adam and Vicki were separated by less than eight-tenths. The Falken Racing pit wall was as stressed as ever as they watched the monitors, hands on heads as their two drivers fought for track position. Victoria was given the warning not to do anything stupid, but nevertheless, she wanted to win the race.
Turning the final corner, the three drivers found themselves in an all-out drag race to the finish line. Victoria had a mighty exit, pulling ahead of both the drivers. Adam wasn't far behind, closing in rapidly. Lando sat powerlessly in his car, as the two Falken-Tesla drivers pulled up along him on either side, slowly pulling ahead.
