Victoria watched on from the sidelines as Petr Yakovich parked the second Williams car on the front row of the grid.
"That should be me," Victoria whispered to her race engineer.
"Whatever the team is doing right now is for your safety, Vicki. God knows what will happen to you..." Andy replied.
"Uh... maybe win my very first F1 race?"
"Don't look at it that way, Victoria. After this weekend you'll be back in the car, I assure you."
Victoria took a stroll around the starting grid as mechanics for the twelve different teams began making their final preparations to the car, with the drivers all set to strap themselves in.
"All okay?" Victoria asked her Spanish teammate.
"Well... for a 5th place." Rafael sarcastically replied.
"I shouldn't say this, but let's just hope something happens in front to make the race more exciting,"
"I doubt it... You know, VulcanTech proved their facility is actually working for the drivers, I was wondering if we could actually ask the team for some VulcanTech... should we?
You know what, nevermind. First thing after the race, we'll meet for a drink, yeah?" Rafael suggested.
"Cool... I'll invite the Mercedes guys too, alright?"
"Uhh... sure?" Rafael hesitated.
Peter from a distance noticed the number 15 driver leaning against the side barriers watching as the Russian, Petr Yakovich took over her seat for the weekend.
"Must be shitty, huh? Getting replaced." Peter broke the silence.
"Oh gosh, what do you want now?" Victoria sighed.
"Bear with me on this. Bear with me... I still think I'm the superior one here, the favourite to win the title. But I feel you. Nothing hurts more than being replaced."
"It's because of what happened in Suzuka, dickhead," Victoria replied. "Look, I don't know what VulcanTech did to your driving and the others under James' sponsorship. But one thing's for sure, you're-"
"Okay, we done here...? I'm gonna get into my car and participate in the race, okay? Good luck... Oh, wait..." Peter then disappeared into the front. Victoria may have been dropped because of her injury, but looking at her replacement, Petr's performance, many people thought it was because of something else.
Even the most experienced of drivers on the grid were getting dropped, fighting these super-rich drivers who came into the scene out of nowhere.
