Chapter 22: From Tension to Ready for the Show

Jamie went in her dressing room, looked in the mirror, and sighed. She hoped that the surprise wouldn't be spoiled and that she would get the chance to do the duet with Johnny. This is their first time doing it and it's perfect. Everyone who heard her duet with Brooke said that Jamie would win, but she was still nervous.

"Feeling the nerves?" Brooke smirked.

Jamie groaned, faced her, and responded, "Nope. I'm confident."

"Why? You and Johnny haven't talked, you still haven't gotten your surprise ready, how can you not be?" Brooke tried to point out.

"You know what, Brooke? You don't know what's been going on. You had no right to make my life miserable, to attempt to take Johnny away from me, or to threaten to keep his father in jail. I could even care less if you think you're a more beautiful gorilla than I am. I've been waiting for this day for a long time and when the audience decides who they want, we'll find out the true winner. So let's settle this, the theater way," Jamie snapped.

Brooke only huffed and left the room. Jamie exhaled sharply, feeling like she held her breath the whole time. Rosita came in already in costume with a smile on her face.

"Jamie, I have never seen you so fierce like that," Rosita remarked.

"Well that part is overdue. Other times it's with Johnny," Jamie said.

Rosita chuckled then asked, "Is Big Daddy already here?"

"Yeah. I bailed him out and snuck him into the theater without Johnny knowing," Jamie informed then added excitedly, "Oh, I can't wait until the big reveal!"

"We can't either. So you ready?" Rosita wondered.

"Absolutely," Jamie smirked and they went to the wings.
