"Travis....." Katelyn managed out, then said it again in a heightened voice as her grin grew, sprinting towards that shock of white hair to be engulfed in a heartfelt hug.
"God how many times am I gonna feel like I'm gonna lose you....." Katelyn whispers in his ear, her words so quiet you could barely notice the emotional crack in her voice.
"This isn't the first, and it will certainly not be the last hun, but that's how I know you love me so...."
Katelyn's embrace tightens around Travis's weak torso until they hear a distant cough and familiar shippy cry.
Just this time, she wasn't exactly in the most fangirl-type mood.
It seemed the blast Travis had let out from god knows what allowed the water to disperse and filter out of the building.
Looks like Travis knew a thing or two about makeshift bombs....which is not the most comforting sentiment I realize.
Garroth cradles a fatal potato in his arms, her breaths slow along with the blinking speed of her eyes.
"How is she?" Travis inquired, getting just a small shake of the head from Garroth, his eye's still in contact with hers.
Katelyn's gaze transitioned to Aaron's gurney momentarily, his sleeping conscious actually a fortunate occurrence at the moment.
Her gaze is reverted as fingers that could be mistaken as a child's, grasps at her collar. Katelyn sees the hand belonged to Aphmau herself.
It never stopped. The pain of seeing Aphmau suffer time and time again.
But this time, it scared Katelyn even more, maybe because there was a glint of finalization in Aphmau's hazel eyes.
As if she knew this would be the last time.
"Katelyn...." Her words so silent they were merely occupants of the wind. "....you saved Aaron....thank you.....and I'm glad he isn't here for me to say this so...you listen to me....you listen real close...."
"I'm here Aph...." Katelyn places her cool fingers against her cooler ones. "....anything....."
"....you save my babies....okay?....you make sure they live....they're precious beings, Katelyn...."
As Katelyn tries to register what Aphmau means, Travis already understands, and he isn't happy about it.
"Aphmau you can't.....you are way too weak for c-section...."
As weak as she was, she still iconically managed to interrupt Travis. "...that's not all I mean....."
That's when...Katelyn finally takes in the big picture.
"Aphmau...you aren't brain dead....you do not classify as an organ donor....."
"I will be....if my babies don't survive....."
Katelyn shakes her head, more tears. "You can't seriously be....."
"I'm 37 weeks......my baby is considered carried to full term....."
"What about you?......What about your life.......What about Aaron.....What about your newborn son......What about me? What about me if you die!?" Katelyn enrages, Aphmau unfazed, most likely due to her dulled senses because of deprivation of oxygen.
Aphmau sighs, clenching Katelyn's hand in hers, clearing her dry throat.
"I am......not scared of death......."
