"I thought I made myself pretty clear...." Zane leans his knuckles against his desk in an intimidating stance, his male counterpart not so easily swayed.
"I'm sorry Mr. Ro'maeve, but even for a hospital, the amount of death that roams these halls is inexcusable and must be dealt with immediately......" A well-dressed man with circular glasses propped up on a sharp nose states until Zane relaxes his posture and interrupts.
"Please sir, the man who gave me this job built this hospital from nothing and regardless of any incidents, our patient care is still one of the best in the country......"
The man sends a puzzled look Zane's way, clasping his hands together in a quick motion to cut off Zane's tangent.
"Mr. Romaeve, this meeting isn't regarding your patient care in any way......"
"Then tell me, Micheal, why are you here?"
"....it's concerning your doctors.....now what can you tell me about the events of the November 13th, the night the shooting took place......"
*
I can still hear them.....
Their fierce pounding shrieking as they departed the mass murdering weapon...
That's what we were, or what the afternoon of November 13th was......
A mass murder, The FBI defines mass murder as murdering four or more persons during an event with no "cooling-off period" between the murders. (according to google)
But what happened the night of November 13th, was a whole different anecdote.
Someone distracts me from my thoughts, so I blink several times to come back to reality and look towards that someone.
He coos as any 1-month-old newborn should, his eyes open as he sports the signature Lycan black eyes.
"Hey, just checking up to see how you're doing..." A friendly face approaches as he limps across the porch width.
"Aaron, rest. You should know gunshot wounds aren't exactly healed with just some VaproRub..." I say, my gaze still fixated on the little cutie in hand.
He doesn't laugh. "Melissa....you know I don't have a choice.....it's not like it used to be."
As much as I hated to see my little brother in such pain, I know he is right.
That day, that life-altering event reshaped our lives forever.
Yes, I was there that day.
I came to Kenmaur-Garnet Memorial to pay a surprise visit to my busy brother.
I knew his life here was always tough, but what I experienced that day must have just given me a taste of his daily life.
Luckily, I was never in any real danger. I hid in one of the supply closets along with a diverse group of individuals, patients and visitors alike from different backgrounds.
But their differences did not stop them from joining hands together with total strangers, to exchange prayers. Some in different languages and others from different religions but it was still for the same reason. We prayed that day for the opportunity to live life a bit longer.
After the incident, I decided to stay with Aaron to help him with the children and attempt at helping him recover from such an incident.
My little brother lost a lot that day....
More than anyone should ever have to lose....

During the attack......
"SOMETHING ANYTHING THINK OH GOD THINK!" Katelyn spirals, watching horrifically as her best friend writhes in a closed hallway of water, her tan complexion fading.
Garroth, unable to think of anything else, continues to wham the pipe against the glass, the chicken wire within the pane not budging.
Of all the times for the glass not to break.
If anything, the pipe was making it worse, it scaring Aphmau so she swallowed the water faster.
Noticing this, Katelyn finally accepts it. "GARROTH STOP!"
He abides her command, but with a stuffy face and a confused look.
"It isn't helping.....none of it is helping...."
Katelyn shuffles through the rising water on their side to the glass, tears gathering despite her machismo.
Aphmau claws helplessly at the glass, and where her hand's rest, Katelyn places her shaky ones on the opposite side.
"Aphmau......god Irene, you bitch..."
"DUCK KATELYN!"
Katelyn and Garroth's vision swing towards the voice, and noticing who was there, they obeyed, falling to the chilled water below as a loud blast let's out.
The riveting heat sears Katelyn as she retreats to the water, the boom following shortly after.
The major disruption in sound sends medical supplies colliding with the walls, blankets flaming as they danced back towards the floor.
As the hallway attempts to recover from such a blow, Katelyn and Garroth surface from the current, currently soaked but were too preoccupied with the individual who was standing opposite them at the end of the hall.
"Man, that was loud...."

Meanwhile....
"No...no send her now......yes I understand.....no don't page them just yet till we know how serious it is.." Lucinda hangs up the phone, her breaths quickening after the worrying phone call.
As she fails to try and calm herself, she jogs down the hallway towards the elevator as she awaits the arrival of her next patient.
Now as she tried to calm herself by breathing through her teeth, she felt a weird feeling gather in her toes.
The doors open, a daycare professional emerges as well as the patient, and a small flood of water which disperses from the small metal box which is the hospital's elevator.
Lucinda gasps slightly, as the daycare professional's widened eyes contract in relief. She quickly dismounts the wet elevator and hands the child to Lucinda.
A flood? Lucinda thought, well I shouldn't be surprised, given this hospital's track record.
Lucinda looked around her to the active Pediatric unit, the tiny humans with the ability to walk were prancing about the halls, others who were not so lucky still had smiles on their faces.
She then looked back to the child in her arms, and suddenly a singular tear made its way towards the ground. All she could think of was what to come.
Nonetheless, she smiled. "C'mon Angel.....let's warn the others..."
Have a nice day my crystals!
