Travis emerges from the sensor operated door, clutching his left arm with his right, but momentarily uses his hand to rip the surgical mask from his pale face and toss it in the waste bin.
Aphmau, who had been sitting in the corner of the scrub room, one leg crossed over the other and both hands holding her face, acknowledges Travis's presence, raising her gaze for a split second, then drops it again to wipe her tears before speaking.
"How's it going?" She half asked/pleaded, her voice hoarse from her presumed sobbing and stress.
Travis sighed, and from what Aphmau could tell, not a good one.
"He's still alive, and Katelyn is working very hard to keep him that way......" Travis answered, almost defensively.
Noticing his tone, Aphmau backed off, using her hands now to envelope herself in a reassuring hug, as she slightly shivered.
How did this happen......again..... Aphmau thought
Why can't the world just give us a goddamn break?
The scrub room was filled with an awkward silence for a solid minute before Travis broke it.
"Maybe we should take a walk, police say they'll be here soon and that Mr. Garnet seems to have fled the building....."
Aphmau thought it over, knowing this was probably best for both of them, to not be next door to their spouses in their individual drastic moments.
Though somehow, she was inclined to say no but spoke the opposite.
Travis outstretched a hand for her, gesturing for her to take it.
Aphmau looked to the hand than to Travis, where she was just then realizing how much he's changed since the start of our internship.
His eyes and face showed a man of intelligence and integrity, despite his daily behavior, but it also showed the face of a man of resistance and one of a good heart.
His sunken eyes matched hers, showing that both just kinda needed to take a break from it all.
So she took his hand and stood up, both heading out the door and strolling down the empty scarily quiet corridors.

"So..." The Chief police officer points his finger to a spot on the north side of the blueprint laid out in front of him, several other officers gathering around the blueprint.
"This is where the first shooting took place, in this closet, the shooter then moved to the nurse station in the pediatric wing. So squadron 1, take the west side corridor and squadron 2, take the east, and S.W.A.T. will go down the center corridor and we'll corner him on the north side, hoping he hasn't moved much from his last position......"
The Chief was cut off, by a third-party officer, his voice words, and voice full of urgency.
"Chief, we just got word that a water main broke, and it looks intentional," The officer says, his breaths heavy.
The Chief's expression wavers between definite shock and indefinite fear, but nonetheless, he spoke.
"Where is the water being disposed of?" The Chief questioned, the rest of the officers listening in on their conversation.
The officer looked like he just wanted to gulp down his answer but he failed. "That's the thing when they set the place on lockdown, it sealed all exits and entryways so......" The Chief finished his words.
"The hospital will flood from the inside.....and everyone will drown...."
So due to the unpredictability of my life, I'm gonna say this book does not have a schedule but I will aim to publish one chapter every week.!
Have a nice day my crystals!
