"Wait what? Say again please sorry me le derp." Aphmau jokes, twisting slowly in a comfortable office chair in the resident's lounge.
"When I'm a cardiothoracic attending next year, I want to make adult to child heart transplantation a possible operation," Katelyn explains with giddiness.
"But, isn't that already a thing?" Aphmau keeps spinning, getting dizzy in the process.
"It is in children, 7 and above, but not for let's say a child Angel's age......" Katelyn beams, her plans for the future zooming out of her excited mouth.
"....Is that possible?" Aphmau asks in awe, stopping her constant spinning, mostly because of sudden nausea.
"Yes......and when it is proven to be successful, countless children lives could be saved........"
"That's amazing Katelyn, I really do hope you can accomplish that."
"Thanks, you gonna be pediatric surgeon......right?" Katelyn asks, her tone wavering from her excited state to a solemn worried one.
"Yeah......." Aphmau answers, her tone mimicking Katelyn's unintentionally.
"Are......you sure......you want to? You could be Ortho.....or General....wait! Weren't you like shadowing Aaron in Neuro a lot?" Katelyn volleys, throwing her suggestions out in choice theory.
"Katelyn....."
"I just want you not to be.....reminded.....of...it.....everyday....." Katelyn knits her eyebrows in pity, worrying for her best friend.
"Katelyn.....no matter what I do.....no matter what specialty I take......I will be reminded of it......every second.....of every hour......of every day......cause when you lose a child.......you lose a part of you.......such an important part of you......." Aphmau says, her voice cracking and her eyes welling up.
"Aphmau......."
"I want.....to be in peds.....because I don't want any other parents to go through....what Aaron and I did........I know that kids will die no matter what......but I could at least empathize with the parents........I could be the person I needed when we lost...her......" Aphmau sniffles, rubbing her nose on her sleeve.
Katelyn comes over and envelopes Aphmau in a hug, sighing.
"You are too good Aphmau..........there will be so many people you will help.......wait.....why is there......." Katelyn's voice drifts off as she let's go of Aphmau, grabbing her ring finger, seeing that there was just one expensive ring around it.
"Aphmau, is your last name Lycan yet?" Katelyn retorts in a more silly sarcastic way, making Aphmau giggle nervously.
"Heh......no....."
"What! I thought you guys got married already in Falcon Claw!!"
"And why in the name of Irene would you think that?" Aphmau crosses her arms, giving Katelyn an unamused look.
"Because.......because......I'M QUICK TO ASSUME THINGS OKAY?! I thought you guys just had a small wedding in Falcon Claw but okay if not.....YAY I CAN START PLANNING IT!" Katelyn exclaims, smiling widely.
"You don't have to......we can still wait...."
"NOPE! YOU'VE WAITED TOO LONG, MISSY! ITS ABOUT TIME YOU HAVE THE HAPPIEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE! NOW, WHAT TYPE OF VENUE?! OOHHH HOW BOUT A BEACH?! A BARN?! WHAT TYPE OF DRESS DO YOU WANT?! WHAT ABOUT---" Katelyn starts, but Aphmau cuts her off.
