Miracle

It was a week later. Kells was getting discharged. Savannah was due to have her surgery tomorrow. Dallas was off of the breathing machine and was able to breast feed but had to be put right back in. Kelly was sitting there in the wheelchair. She was refusing to leave the hospital she was going to stay with the kids.

"Can we go down yet?" She asked.
"Kelly I really think you should go home and rest." The doctor said to her.
"I'm not going home until they do. Both of them."
"You know Dallas is going to go home first darling..."
"NO! They aren't separating them." She said and I just nodded and said okay.

We went down to the NICU. She was still so sore. She stood up and went over to grab Dallas and feed him. She changed him in the isolette and put his sleeper on him she got him out and swaddled him and put his hat on so he wouldn't get cold. She then pulled the curtain and started feeding him. I went around.

"Can you not..." She asked.
"Babe...."
"Seriously Luke you made me not sign the DNRs... I'm not happy."
"KELLY THEY DESERVE A CHANCE!" I said loudly.

There was a knock. I went back out.

"Hi Mr.bryan we are just going to take Savannah down for her echocardiogram to get one last picture for her surgery tomorrow. " the nurse said.
"Okay Lisa thank you." I said and I heard kelly make a noise. I went around.

"What?" I asked upset.
"Okay Lisa thank you." She said mocking me.
"Jesus Christ Kelly stop it." I said. I went around and Lisa was still in there.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered.
"Mr. Bryan it's fine. I totally understand." She said. She transferred her to the travel ventilator and then moved everything over. Another nurse came in to help and a doctor too.
"We will be back in about 30-45 minutes... I did verify with the doctor if Mrs. Bryan would like she can keep Dallas out a little longer after his feed just come get a warm blanket from the nurses station." Lisa said.
"Kelly will be ecstatic thank you." I said and she smiled.

I went back behind the curtain.

"Did you hear that beautiful you can keep him out for a little." I said. She just shrugged.
"I'll probably put him back in unless you want to hold him...."
"Kells...."
" LIKE SAVANNAH IS GOING TO DIE AFTER THEY DO TO MUCH TO HER LITTLE BODY HOW ARE YOU OKAY EITH THAT!?" She yelled. Dallas started crying. She tried soothing him but he wouldn't latch again. I went and took  him. She covered back up. I pushed the button.

"Can we help you?" The lady said.
"Yes Lisa said to ask for a warm blanket for Dallas so we could keep him out longer." I said.
"We will be right in Mr Bryan."

They were in within a minute.

"Oh my goodness! Can we get a picture since he's able to be out??" The patient care technician asked. I smiled.
"Of course, come on darling." I said to kelly sitting next to her.
"My phone is right there." I said nodding to the table.

"Smile Mrs Bryan" She said. When she was done she asked if she could get a picture for their board. Kelly refused since Savannah wasn't here which they understood.

"Look kelly. He's smiling." I said. She looked.. she finally had a smile on her face.
"Well would you look at that." She said rubbing his cheek with her finger.

There was a knock. We both looked up and saw the attending cardiologist.

"Is she okay!!!?" Kelly said jumping up. She grabbed her stomach where the incision is.
"Yes yes she's fine I'm sorry to scare you please sit." He said. Kelly sat down. He pulled a chair over and as he sat down he smiled as he looked at Dallas.

"So... the echocardiogram showed no hole in the heart as it did the other day, all the ventricles are contracting well, there's enough blood flow which explains why her pressures have been so high from the medicines we have been giving her." He said.
"It's just gone? Are you sure??" I asked kelly was so dazed and in shock.
"We've had multiple people looking and comparing she is still In there. My resident called and I took a look and he is right there is no hole."

"How does that even happen?" Kelly asked.
"Honestly I do not know it is a miracle." He said.

"So now what?" I asked.
"Now we will do a care meeting she is gaining well she is up to 4.5 lbs. I see mister Dallas there is up to a little over 5. Hopefully another week until he is released I heard."
"Can He sty when she does."
"Yes we will cross that bridge when we get to it so would you be willing to do a care meeting around 1pm?" He asked.
"Of course!" Kells said. This is the happiest I have seen her.
"Perfect she will be up soon."

He left and kelly started crying.

"Babe she's fine..." I said.
"I know it's just so amazing" she said laying her head on my shoulder.
"Can I hold him now?" She asked.

I smiled and handed him right Over and I went out to get another warm blanket.
