six.

later that day, i saw ellis with delilah walking around town. they were talking and laughing, ellis was enjoying his time with her.

i spent the day alone, bought a drink, read my book and wandered. but i couldn't say that i had fun, i felt shattered.

now i sat outside a coffee shop, a cinnamon bun on my table. ellis and delilah were at the other side of the street. i couldn't help but watch.

minutes later, ellis suddenly left. he gave delilah a quick hug and a wave.

when ellis was out of sight, delilah turned and caught my eyes. her face softened, she paused for awhile before slowly crossing the road towards me.

"i'm sorry fleur." she spoke, her blonde shoulder-length hair messed by the wind. delilah gave me a questioning look before i nodded and she sat down on the seat in front of me.

"it's okay." i told her.

she shook her head, "no, i could've avoided ellis. i could've not agreed -"

"no delilah. it isn't your fault why he can't remember things." i said. "in fact you did the right thing."

her eyebrows furrowed, a confused look etched on her face.

i took out a breath, "i want ellis to enjoy each day. i don't want him to be miserable for anyone's sake -for my sake." i explained to her. "i want him to feel normal, even if its wrong, it only seems right. so if today or tomorrow or any other day, he would like you or some other girl, i won't stop him."

delilah placed her hand on top of mine. "no matter who he likes, it's you who he really loves. it's his brain that can't remember, not his heart."

i nodded and gave her a small closed smile.

"one day ellis is going to grow old without anything to remember. he won't remember me, you or anyone else. he would but not permanently. and for now, he's young, he could still enjoy things. he wouldn't be too old to not do anything. so i want ellis to have a great memory even if it'll only last for a day." i said, deep in thought.

"you're brave fleur," delilah remarked. "so brave. some people would run away. but you? you stayed."

my smile widened just a little bit, "that's my love for ellis."

the next day, saturday, i woke up with the feeling of happiness. i got ready, grabbed the letter i wrote to him last night then took off.

when i reached the park, no one was there except for joggers and a few other people. i sat down on my usual spot and waited patiently.

i was staring at my shoes when i heard the sound of leaves crunching. not a moment later, i saw a pair of dark blue sneakers in front of my shoes.

i recognized ellis' voice quickly, "hey."

then i looked up and saw his tall frame. his head was bent down to look at me, his lips curved into a small smile and his hands were inside his pockets like always.

his navy blue coat hugged his frame in a loose manner that somehow hid his black and white striped shirt inside. he was wearing a pair of cream colored pants and his hair was in its usual shaggy -attractive- style.

"hey." i answered back, slightly squinting from the sunlight.

he shifted a bit before speaking again, "do you want to go on an adventure fleur?"
