Beastboy tossed and turned all night, feeling guilty. But why? He didn't do anything wrong. He didn't love Raven that way. Then why did he feel so broken? Beastboy couldn't be in love with Raven.
Right?
Beastboy shook his head as he forced his eyes shut, determined to get a little bit of sleep.
Morning rolled around and Beastboy was wide awake. He groaned as he sat up, completely drained of any energy. He slowly dragged his body out of bed before heading into the hallway. As he passed Raven's room his feet came to a stop. He leaned against her door, placing his pointy ear against it, but didn't hear nor smell anything. That made him a little nervous. That meant that she was in the living room, and Beastboy wasn't sure if he was ready to face her.
Regardless, he continued through the hall and into the living room. Everyone was there, gathered around the kitchen, chatting with each other. Cyborg was by the stove, flipping pancakes as he talked attack strategies with Robin. Star and Raven were at the table, Raven sipping on her tea as Star laughed gleefully at the topic.
It was nice seeing the Titans like this, all together, smiling and laughing, just really enjoying life, like one big happy family. Beastboy smiled at the sight as he made his way towards the boys but he felt his eyes naturally gravitate towards Raven. Fortunately for him, she wasn't looking at him, too far engrossed in her conversation. It was almost as if she was avoiding his gaze, avoiding looking in his direction.
Beastboy continued past Raven, noticing how she never turned to look at him. He opened the refrigerator and grabbed some orange juice.
"G'Morning, BB." Cyborg said as he flipped a couple more pancakes. He was wearing his classic 'Kiss the Chef' apron.
"Morning." He greeted back, trying to hide the irritation in his voice. He sat the juice on the table, and went back to the cabinet to get cups. He purposely sat across from Raven, wanting to see if she'd look at him.
She didn't even acknowledge his presence.
Beastboy's jaw slightly locked. He understood that she was upset, or sad, but he still wanted them to be just as close as they used to be. But he had to control his anger, knowing that confronting her now wasn't the best option.
His silent anger was interrupted by the food being placed on the table. Pancakes and eggs, fresh off the stove, sat in front of him, the scent making his stomach growl. Only then did Raven turn her head, but her eyes were glued to the food, not to Beastboy. She smiled as she said thanks to Cyborg before grabbing a plate and digging in.
For some reason, than made Beastboy even angrier. Shouldn't HE be the only avoiding her and not the other way around? He hid his anger well, masking it with one of his goofy grins but he knew that his eyes were a very dark shade of green. Conversation was flowing around him, but Beastboy was spaced out.
"Beastboy!"
His head snapped up, blinking as he came out of his trance. He turned his head to the side, observing how Robin was gazing at him in concern. "Are you okay? I called your name 3 times."
Beast gave him a convincing grin. "Yeah, this food is so good that I spaced out a little."
Robin chuckled as he shook his head. The rest of the Titans continued their conversations as Beastboy quietly glowered. His eyes flickered to Raven as she removed herself from the table.
"Friend Raven, will you accompany me to the mall?" Star asked as she gave Raven her irresistable puppy eyes.
Raven sighed before nodding her head. Beastboy could tell by her body language that Raven didn't really want to go. She agreed because, nobody what anyone thought, Raven was genuinely a nice person. She would do anything for her friends.
