I ran as fast as I could. My whole life flashing in front of me with every step I took. I saw Dally and I as kids. I saw the first time I left New York. I saw the concerts I attended and friends I made. And I saw Soda. I saw me meeting him at the DX and I saw us kissing for the first time. I saw him trying to make dinner one night when Darry was sick. I saw him dancing when I said that he was the cutest member if the gang. I saw it all. And the thought of the rest of my life not having Soda, was a life I didn't want.

"Tristan!" I heard Soda scream. I stopped but kept my back turned away from him. "Please Tristan." I could tell he was crying.

"Are you gonna go?" I asked loudly. I wasn't crying anymore.

"Tristan..."

"Are you!" I screamed while turning toward him.

"I have to... We can't afford to leave and we don't have any money to pay to keep me here. Baby I gotta go."

I was crying now. "No!" I tried to be angry but I wasn't. I knew he had to go. And that hurt. I guess I was angry but it wasn't at him. It was at life and the way it always seems to ruin everything. "I can't..." I stuttered though the tears.

Soda grabbed onto me and pulled me close to his chest. I cried into him and listened to his heart beat. There's no way I could live without the beat of this heart. This heart, his heart, is the only thing keeping me alive anymore. Sodapop is the reason I'm here and I can't live without him.

"I love you." I said quietly without moving. I never wanted to let go of him. "I love you with every part of me."

"I love you too my wild child." He kissed the top of my head. "I'm gonna make it Tristan. I'm a greaser okay we're tough. I'm gonna come home to you." He promised.

"You better. You better come home to me Sodapop Curtis because I love you too much to let go of you. Okay?" He grinned at me but I couldn't smile back even if I wanted to. I just latched on again and hugged the love of my life as tightly as I possible could.

"I need you to do something for me first." He grabbed my shoulders and stood me in front of him with a serious look on his face. He grinned slightly for a split second and then ran his thumb under my left eye to wipe away the last tear.

"Anything." I agreed without having the least bit of an idea what he could want. This made him smile but I was too anxious to see what he needed to smile.

"Marry me."
