"She's waking up. Ponyboy get a glass of water and some aspirin." I heard Darry's voice call out kindly. His voice was soothing and calm. I remember Ponyboy saying he was a hard cold man but he was nothin of the sort. He was a soft character, he just didn't know how to show it.

I fluttered my eyes open and saw Darrel sitting next to me. At first I didn't think much of it. But then I remembered I didn't live here anymore. Why was I waking up here?

"What happened?" I asked with a crack in my voice.

"What's the last thing you remember Tristan?" His eyes were sad. He appeared anything but hard and cold in this moment.

"I met Holly. And I drank. A lot. Dally and I were dancing and-" I began to have a flashback. I could hear Dally and I laughing as we traveled up the staircase.

"Stop!" I heard my voice call out laughing into the music.

"I was kissing Dally." I continued to tell Darrel. "And then I saw..."

"What?" He asked. I broke into a cry and he gently wrapped his arms around me.

"She was with another man. Sandy. She was cheating on Sodapop." I cried out.

"What else happened Tristan?" He asked as if the news I had given him was irrelevant.

And then it hit me like a wave. The man. The feeling. The cold air. I remembered trying to call for help and I remembered not being able to find Dallas or Soda. I remembered the man grabbing me and taking me.

All of the sudden I could feel the scratches and bruises all over my body. I slowly brought my hand up to my right eye and felt how swollen it was.

"What did he do to me?" I asked in a terrified whisper. I knew I needed to ask but I'm not sure I wanted to know the truth.

"He drugged you. He took you out back and beat you. He broke your hipbone and cheekbone. You had a concussion and a sprained ankle as well. Then before he could..." he paused and I grimaced for I knew what he was speaking about. "He didn't though. He was going to but Dally and Sodapop found you in time."

I felt relieved and still sick at the same time. "Then what?"

"Dally started beating the guy. He couldn't stop. Sodapop picked you up and started screaming for help. I was in my way home from work and I could hear him. I ran and pulled Dally off the guy... but I was too late." He finished in near tears.

"What?" I was confused.

"Dally is in prison Tristan." My fave dropped and I felt the sickening feeling arise in my gut once more.

"He killed the man."
