The wedding day was here. Sodapop left tomorrow. I was so mixed up. Of course Sodapop was already technically my husband because we went to the courthouse and signed the papers, but we wanted to have the ceremony for everyone else as well.

"Ready?" Darry asked walking in as Holly pinned my veil into my hair. "Wow." He said looking at me.

"What?" I asked concerned.

"You look absolutely beautiful." His mouth was still open in shock and his eyes shined like a young boy in a toy store. I blushed at my soon to be older brother in law's compliment. I adored Darry.

"Thank you Darrel. You have no idea what it means to me that you're doing this for me." I hugged him and he hugged me back for a solid minute or two. Finally I pulled back. "They ready for us?" I asked.

"Well, there's been a little change. I would love to walk you down the isle. You know that. But someone else has volunteered who deserves it more than I do." I was confused and slightly upset.

"Darry what are you talking about I want you to." I protested. Right then I heard a voice far too familiar.

"Yeah but I insist." Dally said walking in. I felt immediate tears fly into my eyes.

"Dallas.." I spoke softly.

"Hello princess." I let the tears fall, not caring about my makeup, and I ran to him with arms wide open. He embraced me in the greatest hug I could ever imagine.

"We'll give you two some time." Darrel said exiting with Holly.

"Dally how are you here?" I asked.

"Good behavior and a good lawyer. Worked out a deal. I also get out in a year which is shorter than we thought." Every word he said made my heart happier. This was by far the best gift Soda and I were going to get.

"Tristan." Dally said setting his hand on my face. "He better make you the happiest version of yourself. And he better love you with ever bit of himself." He said in a serious and loving tone. In that moment I remembered why I started dating Dally a year ago. I remembered why I cared for him so much.

"He does." I promised. Dally hugged me once more and then pulled away.

"Are you ready?" He smirked.

"Yeah."

And then we walked through the back door to the backyard. Holly had decorated and she had done a beautiful job. I told her nothing too much since there was only us and a few guests here. Buck and his girlfriend came. A few of Soda's friends from school. And then the DX boss and his wife. And Two-bits little sister Jane who I had come to be quite fond of. Other than that, it was empty. But it was perfect.

The ceremony went on and I was holding back the tears. I was marrying the love my life but I knew good and well that the sun would rise tomorrow and he'd leave. And the possibility of him not returning was haunting me. Even as I said I Do.

"You May now kiss your bride." The pastor from the local church said proudly.

It was in that kiss I realized something. My entire life I had been floating around on a breeze. Sodapop was my anchor. He held me down. And the one thing I hated most in this world was taking him away from me. War. But I knew no matter what happened to him over there, he had done his job. He had already won the war. Everyone had a battle inside them. And soda helped fight mine. He won the war. The War of Tristan.
