Maggie's P.O.V.
Do you know how hard it is to get your delusionally tired or completely asleep girlfriend to bed when she's several inches taller than you? If you don't, let me tell you, it's quite difficult.
Its mostly difficult because I can't carry her very well and I don't think Alex would ever forgive me if she woke up to me literally dragging her to bed by the ankle. I always somehow find a way, but I usually have to get creative with my tactics. It happens somewhat often, probably biweekly. But there are three times I specifically remember to be challenging, hilarious, or both.
1~
This was the first time it ever happened. Alex and I were probably about 3 months into our relationship. At this point, we had just started spending almost every night together and then staying over.
This day, Alex had confirmed in the morning that I would be over that night. I had agreed, but work got hectic and I ended up staying two and a half hours late. I made sure to text Alex, telling her I would still be there but I'd be late and she shouldn't wait up for me. Alex, being Alex, had tried to stay up for me. I had a suspicion that she would and it was confirmed when I found her passed out on the couch, a book resting on her chest.
I didn't know what to do. Waking her seemed rude and mean considering how peaceful she looked but I definitely could not leave her on the couch. I decided to wake her up, making sure to take the book of her chest just in case she startled and the book went flying.
Then, I lightly shook her body. Alex groaned, obviously tired and slightly annoyed. She squinted her eyes open and yawned. Honestly, I don't think she registered a thing that was happening because she didn't complain or apologize once, a rare thing for Alex to not do. Instead, she let me help her up and leaned on my for support, apparently too exhausted to hold herself upright. We got to bed successfully, with Alex only stumbling once. All in all, this was probably the easiest one to get through.
2~
The second time, we'd been dating for, at the max, 5 months. I was practically living at her apartment. So much so that it was a surprise I hadn't already moved in. I don't think we had slept apart for over a month and a half and I really hoped we wouldn't have to often.
We'd both had difficult days. Alex was worn out and so was I. But, before going to bed, I wanted to shower. So, while Alex watched TV on the couch, I quickly showered.
It didn't take long, ten minutes at the most, but by the time I had finished, Alex had fallen asleep. Not in the bed, but on the ground, half leant up against a wall. I had to stifle a laugh and I still, to this day, don't know how she fell asleep right there.
I tried to do what I usually did. Shake Alex awake and then lead her to bed where she would promptly collapse in exhaustion. This time, Alex barely stirred and I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere with my usual method.
So, I tried picking her up. That did not work. At all. I couldn't lift her up into my arms and if I gave her a piggy back, she would properly just slip right off me and back onto the floor. I really didn't want that to happen. So, I pulled her up off the ground and onto her feet. I made sure she was leaning completely on my front and I wrapped my arms securely around her waist as if I was hugging her. I have no idea how she didn't wake up. Either she was really tired or was messing with me. I don't know. But somehow, we ended up back in bed after a good ten minutes of me having to pretty much drag her to bed. What I remember most was her feet trailing behind us on the ground. I still laugh at the thought.
3~
The third time happened probably a week after the second one. Thankfully, this time I had help.
Kara and Lena had been hanging out with us and were planning on staying the night since it was dark and all of us were completely drained. We had all been sitting on the couch together watching a movie. Not surprisingly, Alex fell asleep on my shoulder and Kara on Lena's. Once the movie had finished, Lena and I shared a tired look.
"Let's not wake them, they've both had a rough day," I say, caring but also exasperated. Lena nods uncertainly.
"What do we do, then?" Lena asks, glancing at the sleeping girls.
"Help me support Alex on both sides and then we can come back and do the same for Kara, I guess." I shrug, ignoring the skeptical look Lena is giving me. She helps me get Alex off the couch and wraps one arm around each of our shoulders. We, like I had in the past, pretty much dragged her to the bed. Alex was easy, but Kara was a different story. She tends to move a lot in her sleep so she was squirming around in between us and then, when we had to get her into the bed, we had to make sure we didn't disturb Alex more than we already had. I had a feeling she wasn't going to wake up, but you never know.
This proved to be exceedingly difficult but we eventually got them both into bed successfully and still, maybe, asleep. Then, we had to figure out where we were going to sleep. Trust me when I say I have no idea how Alex had fallen asleep on the floor.
A/N: Sorry for how bad this is. I know I messed up a lot on the verb tenses. Also, this one was quite a bit longer. I don't know if that's good or bad. Anyways, sorry.
