It's always entertaining when Lena is bored.
Lena is a certified genius and has a brilliant, strong mind. So it's no surprise that she has a good memory but it is surprising that she memorizes stuff for fun and then recites it when she's bored. She'll memorize anything. The Periodic Table, famous speeches, the Constitution, songs (why do you think she knows all the lyrics to You Are My Sunshine), children books (specifically Dr. Seuss books). Anything.
It's hilarious to find Lena sprawled out on the couch, staring at the ceiling, and reciting Hop on Pop. Though, the Periodic Table is her favorite thing to recite.
Hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, carbon...
It goes on and on until she reaches oganesson. Then she goes onto something else. Maybe a famous speech or two.
Four score and seven years ago...
The woman has everything memorized, I swear. I'm pretty sure I could make a request and she'd just easily start reciting whatever I wanted. It's actually the most entertaining part of my day when it happens. Plus, I'm learning things as well. The Periodic Table is probably forever engrained into my memory and I think I have Green Eggs and Ham memorized. That might come in handy if I'm ever alone with a kid and without a book.
There's one day where I came home to find Lena on the couch midway through the Periodic Table.
Praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium...
I shrug. If you can't be them, join them, right?
Europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium...
I walk into the DEO the next day mumbling the Periodic Table under my breath. Alex looks at me in shock as soon as she hears exactly what I'm saying.
"Are you... are you reciting the Periodic Table?" She asks curiously and I nod. Alex raises her eyebrows questioningly and I shrug.
"Lena likes to recite things when she's bored. I may have picked up on the habit," I explain and then go back to muttering it under my breath. Alex laughs but I know for a fact that she later drives J'onn and Vasquez crazy by reciting it the whole rest of the week.
