Kelewele is a Ghanaian food which is normally sold at night. This food is usually taken as dessert.
When I was a child , my elder sister used to send me and my cousins to go and buy kelewele for her. From a distance you will hear the vendors calling unto customers in local Asantes twi .

"Keleweleee ! Ebi aben !
Adee me peeee na wo ton ! "
( kelewele is ready,
What I like best is what you are selling)

We used to be happy anytime we hear this song😀😀😀

Anyway let's get to work ❤

INGREDIENTS
4-5 very ripped plantain
200ml cooking oil
50g fresh groundnuts
1 ginger
1 medium size onion
5g cloves
5g Grains of Selim( hwentea)
10g Ripped pepper
1/2 tsp salt

METHOD
Soak the cloves and hwentea in water for some few minutes.
Wash the onion and ginger.

Wash the plantain and peel.
Dice the plantain into small cubes.
Put the diced plantain into a big bowl, add the blended spices and salt.
Stir with a spatula .

Place a small saucepan on fire.( kelewele need a deep frying ,so we are using a saucepan)

Put in the cooking oil.
Let it becomes very hot.
Then add a scoop of the plantain mixture. Allow it to fry till it's dark brown, add the groundnuts .
Let the groundnuts fry together with the kelewele for about 3mins. Then remove it from the oil with a perforated spoon unto a plate.

Fry the remaining plantain mixture till its of the same color as the first one.

Kelewele is served with the fried groundnuts alongside a chilled sobolo 🍹or drink🍷😘.
