Part 35- Lunch!

Erin's POV

"Lunch!" Rachel yelled from the kitchen. 

Shoot! I had to act like everything was fine, for now!

I walked over to Maddie and Scott. I could barely look at them after knowing everything. I plastered on a fake smile. 

"Would you's like red wine or white?!" I asked. 

"Red please!" Maddie said.

"Same for me!" Scott said. 

We all walked through and sat down. These two make me sick!

We were half way through lunch.

"So" Rachel said. "You's said your car was the worst. How?!"

"Oh just the battery and a few other things!" Scott answered. 

"I'll give you the number of the garage Joe takes his car to!" Rachel said, smiling. 

"It'll be ok!" Maddie said. "Money's a bit tight at the minute. We're saving though"

I knew exactly what they were doing. 

"No, no we can't have that!" Rachel said. "How much is it to fix it?!"

"About a thousand!" Scott said. 

This was my chance!

"Really, I thought battery repairs was only about a hundred!" I said.

"Oh, well it's a complicated damage you know!" Scott said.

"Yeah but I think a thousand is a bit much!" I said. "Maybe you should try a different garage!"

"Best price we could find!" Maddie said. 

"I'll pay for it!" Rachel said. 

"We can't have you do that!" Maddie said.

"Well i'm not having you walking everywhere so i'm paying!" Rachel said. "i'm not taking no for an answer!"

"Thank you darling!" Scott said. 

I can't let them get away with this!

"So, as you know there's the double wedding!" Rachel smiled. "I'd love you's to come!"

"Oh we'd love to!" Maddie said. "I'll see what outfits I can whip up!"

"What do you mean whip up?!" Rachel asked., laughing.

"It's the most affordable way!" Maddie said.

"Nonsense!" Rachel said. "I'll pay for the outfits!"

"Rac-" was all Scott could say.

"Nope!" she said. "I'm doing this!"

"It's lovely and warm in here!" Maddie said. 

"Oh it's just a bit of heating!" Rachel laughed.

"It's lovely!" Scott said. "We're not exactly used to it. 

"How do you mean?!" Rachel asked. 

"Boilers on the blink!" Scott answered. 

"We've tried scraping up the pennies!" Maddie said. "A man is supposed to come and fix it today because we don't think we'll be able to afford it!"

"Get the man to fix it and send me the bill!" Rachel said. 

"No Rachel we can-!" Scott began. 

"I'm not having you's freeze to death!" Rachel said.

"Oh you're the best daughter ever!" Maddie said.

It was later in the evening. Scott and Maddie had gone home. Today Rachel had gave them a total of four thousand pounds! How could they accept that check?! How could her parents do that to her?! 

Joe walked in. 

"Hey Rac- Where's Rachel?!" he asked me. 

"Shower!" I said. "Joe we need to talk about Rachel's parents!"

"Ok" Joe said, sitting down, looking worried. 

"Well!" I said. "You see...."

I'd just told Joe everything. 

"Those scumbags!" Joe spat. 

"What are we going to do?!" I asked. 

"You'll see!" Joe said.
