The group of seven chatted for a little while. Or maybe it was a long while, and it was just that none of them quite realized. Needless to say, they spent very little time discussing Rosaleen.
To make a long story short, the meet-up that took place at Sam's house day was less like a meeting between junior detectives, and more like a meeting between a group of unlikely friends.
It wasn't like any of them would admit to that, though. If asked, they would all insist that it was a completely serious meeting, no playing around.
That was far from the truth, however.
Sam sat on the floor, leaning up against the coffee table. Lance had offered to make room for her on the sofa several times, but she continued to refuse each time. Wyatte had also protested every time that Lance offered--not wanting to share--but Lance continued to do so every 10 or 15 minutes. Just to make sure, he insisted.
And, at first, Arthur had been very uncomfortable sitting so close to Lance. Not BECAUSE it was Lance, but because he wasn't a very touchy-feely person. He had begun to warm up sometime between the second and third "Are you sure you don't want to sit with us, Sam?"
Conversation had just begun to die down, when Sam suddenly blurted out something that would change the group's friendship forever. Though, maybe it didn't seem like it at first.
"So, guys," she said, combing her fingers through her curly blonde hair. "It's late March, and you know what that means."
Aisha knew what that meant. She let out a loud growl, but it was quickly overshadowed by Sam's cheerful cry.
"Prom night is coming! It's only like 2 weeks away!"
Lance kept his mouth very firmly shut. Had he opened it, he most likely would've sputtered something about how him and Rosaleen had had plans to go together.
As a matter of fact, Lance already had a tux.
He didn't say any of that.
Let's just say, Sam was the only one that was excited.
