Rainbow colors streaked across the evening sky, splattered with tufts of white cloud. The yellowish orange sun has just begun to dip beneath the mountainous horizon, creating the kind of picturesque scene that Sam thought you could only see while scrolling through Tumblr.
But most importantly, it was Friday.
Sam had done a lot of explaining in the past two weeks. Trying to convince her parents to let Evan go to prom with a senior? That was no easy task. However, she had been mostly honest in how she had succeeded.
She'd told her parents that he wouldn't be left alone with anyone. He most likely end up being somewhat near Sam the entire night. However, the detail that had really sold it was when Sam told her parents that Evan was really going to be in a group. Sam didn't feel the need to mention that this group only existed because they were trying to solve her best friend's murder.
She felt like that wasn't important.
Sam gushed over her little brother, who was not having any of it. He was wearing a tux. A tux, for Christ's sake!
