Tyler's POV

I got up early, getting a mind link from one of my pack members. I really didn't want to stay away from Layka. I love how she feels in my arms. I got up knowing the pack needed me. Christine was already up talking to the pack members about what happened.

"So what do we have?" I asked impatiently.

"There was a rouge attack along the border. We couldn't stop it. It happened on our territory."

"What do you mean there was a rogue attack in our territory?!"

I was beyond pissed. For years rogues have been attacking in my territory and I have trapped many of them but they won't reveal any information. This was just past my limits.

"We were really out numbered and some of the wolfs smelled familiar, like from another pack." James, one of the pack members, explained everything that happened this morning.

I ran a hand through my hair in frustration,"Expand border patrol. Christine and I will go check things out. Also, get some pack members to protect the house. I don't want anything to happen to Layka."

Christine and I quickly followed the pack members to the border. There where many of the pack members that were in trying to control the rogues.

"What the fuck are you doing in my territory?!"

The rogue smirked,"I can't tell you but you'll soon find out."

I didn't have the patience right now. I grabbed the rogue by the neck and let my wolf take over.

"Listen rouge, what is it your plan?"

"Why don't you ask that to your mate? Well, I don't know about that anymore."

I don't know what went through me but then I got a horrible shoulder pain, like a burning sensation. Layka, she might be in trouble.

I ran into the woods in wolf form and back to the house. I found the door open but it was empty. There was a lamp that was shattered into pieces. I quick made my way to my room only to find it empty.

I took a quick sniff at the air and followed her scent. I ran as quickly as I could. Her scent was getting closer but I also smelled something else, like from another wolf. It smelled almost like Liam.

This time I feared the most and hurried my pace. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Layka's lifeless body lay on the ground. She was still breathing but barely.

I quickly took her in my arms and examined her. Her left shoulder was losing a lot of blood, but what was weird was that it looked like a wolf bit her.

She was slowly giving out and I felt everything she was feeling right now. My body was burning I felt my heart tug. Layka slowly closed her eyes and her head went back. No, no, no!!

I screamed out in anger. I could feel a tear run down my face. It was like I was going through dejá vu. I can't lose her, at least not like I did with my mother.

"Please Layka, don't leave me."

No response. I heard as Christine and the rest of the pack came and watched how in pain I was. Layka's body was going cold and she was gone.

"Tyler, what happened?" I heard how Christine was crying.

"I don't know. When I came I found her like this."

"We have to take her to the house! We can't just leave her here."

I picked her up and took her back to the house. I softly placed her on the bed and then took the spot next to her. How is it that everyone I love just slips away from me? First my mother and now my mate? Just now that I found her, she has to go away from me.

Before Layka, I couldn't think about life without being all grimacing and shit. When I first met Layka, I felt a strong pull to her, I knew she was different in a way. Now that I lost her, I don't think I can live without her.

It's been hours since Layka died and I still haven't left her side. I feel helpless without her. Christine came over a couple of times to ask if I wanted to eat but I didn't respond. I took my hand in hers and just lay there with her.

The next morning it was the same thing. She still lifeless but Christine had to drag me out to eat something but I only picked at it. It was this for almost a week.

I noticed that her shoulder wound was healing. I thought that was strange because we don't heal when we die. I went outside to Christine to talk about pack duty.

"How are you feeling bro?" She asked softly.

"Like my mate just died."

She sighed," I know Layka's gone but you have to fight it."

"And tell me, how the fuck am I going to do that?! You don't get it okay, she's gone and she's never coming back."

We then heard something crash in my room. Christine and I quickly went and saw that the window wall was broken and Layka's body was gone. We saw through the window that someone was running away and that someone was Layka.
