Chapter Fourteen

Previously, on One True Love

Aria: don't lie to me.
Spencer: it was a one time thing.

Aria: you promised you wouldn't go back to that!
Spencer: it was just to help me focus to get work done.
Aria: you need to tell Toby. We all need to help you, together. We don't want you going down that road again.
Spencer: I said it was a one time thing.
Aria: yeah, and I hear you. But it's dangerous. We aren't gonna put you in rehab or anything, but we are gonna be around a lot because we care.

Spencer: look, it was just to help me get through all this paperwork. okay?

Suddenly, the girls hear a door open and they quickly turn around and see who it is. a tear rolls down Spencer's cheek when she sees.

Aria: I'm gonna go, I'll give you some time.

Spencer: okay. Bye Ar, I love you.

Aria: bye Spence, I love you too.

Spencer buries her face in her hands and breathes heavily. She knows that Toby is going to break up with her. She begins to cry. Toby sighs.

Spencer: How much of that conversation did you hear?

Toby: All of it.

Spencer sighs and puts her head back crying. Why can't she be normal?

Toby: You made me a promise six years ago. Do you remember that? You promised me you weren't going to go back to this. You also promised me that you would call me if you had the urge to take pills again.

Spencer: I know. I didn't intend to break that promise.

Toby: I just love you so much. And I can't lose you.

Spencer: you won't... but you can dump me. I mean, it's my fault...

Toby: Spencer, I'm not going to dump you. You need me right now. And you need to stop this. And I love you.

Spencer: I love you too.
