Chapter Sixteen

Previously on One True Love...
Toby sits at his desk thinking. And he pulls out a small dark blue box. He fidgets with it in his hands while he thinks—will she say yes?

This whole chapter is TOBY'S POV

Toby: god I love this woman...
Tanner: Cavanaugh?
Toby: oh... sorry! *puts the box away*
Tanner: You proposing?
Toby: uhhh... yeah.
Tanner: Spencer?
Toby: who else? I love her with all my heart. Always have, always will.
Tanner: I'm happy for you. Can I see it?
Toby: s-sure. *opens the box*
Tanner: she will love it. Good luck. *walks away*
Toby: god I hope so... I still have to call one person...

Phone call between Toby and Peter

Peter: hello?
Toby: uh... hi mr Hastings? It's Toby. Are you and mrs. Hastings home?
Peter: yes, we are.
Toby: okay great. Can I come over? I need to talk to you guys about something.
Peter: sure.
Toby: alright, I'll be there in 5.

Toby runs out to his truck and drives to the Hastings' house. When he gets there he looks at the ring one more time, then walks to the door and knocks.

Peter: Hi Toby. What can we do for you?
Toby: hi... can I come in?
Peter: Of course. Please sit. Veronica!

*Veronica comes into the room*

Veronica: Hi Toby! What can I do for you?
Toby: please sit down? You're making me nervous haha...
Peter: what is it?
Toby: I want to marry your daughter Mr. and Mrs. Hastings. I love her with all of my heart. Always have and always will. I promise to treat her the way a woman deserves to be treated. To be there for her, to love her, to care for her. I'm in love with her and god I'm not good enough for her but nobody is. So I'm here to ask for your blessing. May I marry your daughter?
