"i am a city boy, you are a city girl"

you'd been awaiting the concert for about two months now. you were flying to la with your dad for calpurnia's show, and honestly everything was great for you.

your dad has been a musician for as long as you could remember. recently, as in the past few years, he'd been working on original music with his band. they'd written about an album or so's worth before getting signed by a record label in the past year.

since leasing their first album sample that contained five songs, they'd blown up. people were loving the idea that even though the band was a bunch of old to middle ages guys who all had boring desk jobs and kids, they still made really good songs and managed to profit.

because the band members all had jobs and families, they never toured or planned on it. they would only fly out places for the weekend to perform before flying back sunday night.

you'd been getting some media attention as well because of your dad, which was kind of surprising. your instagram blew up, and based on statistics you were on your way to social media star status.

your flight to la had landed a few hours ago, and now you and your dad were in your hotel room. you were in the bathroom, styling your hair and doing your makeup. the concert was tonight and you could barely contain your excitement.

thirty minutes later, you and your dad were in an uber, in the way to see calpurnia.

"this is so exciting." you exclaimed to your dad as you fidgeted in your seat.

he laughed, "well good. this trip was expensive honey." he teased.

you smiled slightly, "exciting!" you reiterated.

the uber driver dropped you two off in front of the theater and you hurried inside, your dad trailing behind you. you quickly found your seats. they weren't prime location, but they weren't too shabby either.

"hey, aren't you y/n l/n? are you friends with the band members?" a girl sitting next to you asked, her face lighting up.

"yeah i'm y/n. but i'm just here as a fan. i don't know any of them." you told her.

"oh, well i'm sure they'd love to meet you. you should try to get backstage." she suggested with a wink.

"could i get a picture with you by the way?" she added.

you posed for a selfie with the girl before calpurnia came on stage. they started playing their first song and you sang along very poorly and very loudly. you jumped around and video taped the concert, like a true excited fan girl.

a few hours later, the show was over. you were leaving, and several other people recognized you. not a hoard by any means, but enough to make people notice. you were trying to be polite about wanting to leave, but damn people could be persistent.

finn noticed a crowd of people gathered in the aisles and noticed everyone else was leaving the theater. he wondered why people were crowding and told one of the stage managers to check it out. not in a egotistical way at all, finn just wanted to make sure it was safe.

you were posing for pictures with people, as well as your dad, who was trying to get you out of the mini mob, but without success. thankfully, a stage manager came down and broke it up.

"your d/n right? c'mon backstage and have a drink with me!" the stage manager offered to your dad.

you smiled at your dad and nodded, implying you didn't mind.

he nodded, "sure, i'd love to." he replied.

you followed the stage manager backstage and he lead your dad away. you stood awkwardly a few seconds before ayla walked out of a room, holding a water bottle.

"what are you doing back here?" she questioned, probably worried you were a crazy fan.

"oh, sorry. someone invited my dad to have drinks with him backstage. i can go if i need to." you apologized.

ayla smiled, "no your fine. i don't mean to be rude, but who's your dad?" she asked, wondering if he was well known or just a friend of the stage mangers.

"he's d/n l/n. he's a drummer." you added, just in case.

"wait really? finn and malcom love your dad's band holy shit that's such a weird coincidence." ayla said with a laugh.

"i heard my name." malcom said, peeking his head out of a door, followed by finn and jack.

the three boys walked out and went to stand by ayla.

"guys, her dad's d/n l/n. from that band you like." ayla told them.

finn's eyes widened in shock. "no way. i love your dad's music. and you're pretty cool too. i mean, i follow you and you don't seem like a typical shitty instagram person." he rambled before jack lightly hit his arm.

"nice to meet you." jack interrupted, extending his hand.

you shook his hand and smiled, "nice to meet you too. all of you." you added.

malcom invited you back into the green room, where you all sat on couches and chatted for what felt like hours.

"it's so wild that you happened to be here." finn commented.

you nodded in agreement. "yeah. i mean, i think it's pretty crazy that you guys actually know who i am." you said with a laugh.

"well yeah. also next time you wanna see a show tell me and we'll make sure you get good seats." jack told you.

"we should exchange numbers too." finn suggested, taking his phone out of his back pocket.

you got your phone and opened the contacts app. you phone was passed around and everyone added their contact. you made a group chat and texted a simple "hi, this is y/n" before you turned off your phone.

only a few minutes later your dad cane to get you, saying it was time to go.

"bye. i'll text you." you said with a smile.

they all waved, and finn stood up. "i can walk you guys out."

you nodded, trying to hide your faint blush. "thanks."

your dad gave you a knowing look and you replied with a death stare. finn walked you out of the theater and once you were outside, your dad offered to walk to the car and drive it to the front of the theater so you could just get in. and also talk to just finn.

"how long are you going to be in la?" finn asked you.

"three more days i'm pretty sure." you replied.

"we should get together. maybe dinner or something." he suggested, trying to avoid contact.

"like a date?" you joked, winking at him, secretly hoping he'd say yes.

"depends. do you want it to be?" finn asked.

you grinned, "sure."

just then your dad pulled up and you walked towards your car. "bye finn." you called over your shoulder.

"see you soon y/n!" finn replied.
