❝strawberries and cigarettes, always taste like you❞
lillie was probably the sweetest girl you'd ever meet. she was kind hearted, innocent, optimistic, everything you'd want to the "perfect" girl. she wanted to be a nurse, got straight a's in school and had an amazing family. her parents owned a successful business and her older brother james was just as "perfect" as lillie. he played sports, had a girlfriend and a scholarship to his college of choice.
richie was the known bad boy. he rode his motorcycle everywhere, was always making lewd comments to people and had several tattoos done by himself. he was failing most of his classes, hell, he barely ever showed up. his mom was always gone and his dad was always drunk, he had a solid group of friends though.
sixth period photo journalism, the only class richie showed up to consistently, no matter how tired, stoned or annoyed he was. no one knew why he made such an effort to be there everyday. photo journalism wasn't even an interesting class. the reason was lillie. it was the only class they had together and richie was desperate to find a time to talk to her.
unfortunately, she was always surrounded by friends or he would get nervous and chicken out. that never stopped richie though. lillie was the only student richie really was interested in. sure he'd had his share of flings and short lived romances, but when it came to lillie he wanted something permanent.
finals were approaching and richie heard lillie talking to one of her friends, katherine, about organizing a study group. richie waited in the hallway, right by lillie's locker as he waited for her to arrive. lillie walked up to her locker and waved goodbye to some random girl richie didn't know.
while lillie was gathering her things from her locker, richie took a deep breath and walked over. he resumed his leaning position, this time on the locker right next to lillie's, so when she closed her locker it would reveal him.
lillie closed her locker and richie winked at her. "heard you were organizing a study group." he commented.
lillie nodded politely, "yeah! me and my friend kat wanted to study together for our english final and decided to get some people together to study with us." she explained.
richie nodded, "you see princess, i'm not the best in groups, so how about we go out somewhere tonight." he offered.
richie felt his heart stop beating as he waited for lillie's answer. she looked like she was thinking it over and richie fidgeted slightly.
"uh, i don't know. my parents don't let me stay out very late." lillie replied.
richie smirked, "are you even a teen if you don't break curfew at least once?" he commented.
lillie ducked her head and shifted her weight.
"c'mon sugar, it'll be fun." richie added, hoping he was convincing her.
lillie raised her eyes to look at him, a shy smile on her face. "okay. but you have to come after ten so my parents are asleep."
richie fake saluted, "that i can do sweetheart."
lillie giggles and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "see you then richie."
richie nodded and winked at lillie before walking away from her locker and out of the school. he tried to contain his excitement as he headed to where eddie and stan parked their bikes.
*time skip*
lillie laid a dress out on her bed and examined it. she shrugged and draped it over her desk chair. she grabbed another sun dress and looked at it. she shook her head and hung it back up. after going through multiple outfit options, she decided on a simple floral dress and sneakers.
she finished her homework as soon as she was in her dress and started studying for her science final. someone knocked on her bedroom door.
"it's bedtime lils." her mom announced.
lillie checked her clock. 8 pm, right on schedule. "okay mom. good night, love you." she replied before putting up her homework and study packets.
she did her normal night stuff, like brushing her teeth, reading a chapter of the book she was currently in to, etc. at about 8:45 she was in bed with a smile on her face.
lillie laid in bed until 9:15 when the house was quiet. she touched up her makeup and started reading her book. she read until ten, when exactly as he promised, richie was at her house. he found her window, mainly because she kept her blinds open.
she heard him tap on her window and lillie opened it. "hey prince charming." she joked.
richie smiled at her, an unlit cigarette in his fingers. "got a lighter?" he asked.
lillie rolled her eyes playfully and grabbed one from her nightstand. she hurried back to the window and climbed out quickly. she had already shut off her lights, so that wasn't as issue. lillie closed her window and turned to richie.
"here." she said before flicking the lighter.
richie lit his cigarette and took a drag. he took her hand and laced their fingers together. lillie walked with richie to the fence surrounding the backyard. he started to climb the fence and gestured for lillie to follow. she began to climb and richie helped her down.
they started walking and talking, lillie had no idea where they were going, but she was enjoying richie's company too much to care. they arrived at the barrens and richie led lillie down a path he seemed to know quite well.
he stopped at a clearing where a blanket was laid out, along with a small basket. lillie smiled and walked to the blanket. she kept her hand intertwined with richie's and he walked with her. lillie sat down and richie took a seat next to her. he opened the basket and took out a container of strawberries.
lillie smiled and grabbed a strawberry. she took a bite and richie watched her, the way her blue eyes were sparkling in the moonlight and how excited she looked.
she looked up at richie and stared into his eyes. lillie felt him move closer to her and she placed her hands on his cheeks, pulling his face closer to hers. their lips locked in a quick and sweet kiss. lillie pulled away, her hands still cupping richie's cheeks. he gazed lovingly down at her and lillie blushed lightly.
"your lips taste like strawberries." richie commented.
lillie giggled and looked away from richie, "well you tasted like cigarettes so maybe you should eat a strawberry too." she teased.
richie laughed, "i'll just kiss you again," he leaned in once again and lillie closed her eyes as richie placed his hands on her shoulders.
lillie pulled away from the kiss again, a smile still gracing her face, "still strawberries?" she asked him.
richie chuckled and nodded, "still cigarettes?" he questioned.
lillie just smiled brightly at richie and leaned her head against his shoulder. he pulled her close to him and they laid down on the blanket, looking up at the stars.
