"she'll never be the same and i'm the one to blame"
eleven walked around the woods surrounding her cabin, her thoughts racing. she couldn't stop thinking about him. the way he talked, the way he hugged her, his smell, everything. of course, nothing good could last for anyone in that town.
two months ago
eleven ran as fast as she could, away from the lab. she followed a river down to a point where it turned into a quarry. she noticed a group of kids playing and she ran to the edge of the rock on the side of the water.
"help." she called out to them, making all eyes turn to her.
all of the kids, who looked about her age, rushed out of the water. the only girl placed her hands comfortingly on eleven's shoulders.
"what's wrong. are you hurt?" she asked sweetly.
"bad men. coming." eleven whispered, her voice too weak to speak up after yelling.
the girl looked over to the boys she was with, all who were standing behind her.
"where's your family?" the girl asked.
eleven shook her head. "no." she said, trying to tell the girl that she didn't have one.
"oh, um, what's your name? i'm beverly." she said with a kind smile.
eleven returned beverly's smile and rolled up her sleeve, showing the 011 on her arm. just to further the point, she pointed to the number.
"woah, are you like an experiment or something?" a boy with bulky glasses asked.
"beep beep idiot." another boy said to the boy.
eleven met eyes with the glasses boy and nodded. "bad men." she said again.
the mood immediately shifted. the kids concern for the poor, obviously lost and likely a bit mental girl turned into fear for her and whatever she was running from.
"we can't just leave her." a different boy said. he had a much tougher voice than the other boys.
"bad men." eleven repeated, miming a gun.
a boy who was standing near the back who had a very nice seeming face gasped. "this isn't good."
"jesus fuck." the glasses boy muttered.
