"do you wanna be more than friends"

feeling a lingering sense of fear or panic was normal for you. you were a generally happy girl, more so than most, but always in the back of your mind was panic. like something awful was about to happen.

you knew it was your soulmate's emotions, and it did worry you. honestly that was part of why you always tried to stay happy. you wanted to give your soulmate comfort in whatever way you could.

wherever he was must be terrifying, to him at least. you always wondered what it was that made him so panicky, but you could never come to a conclusion. he wasn't always scared though, your soulmate had his happy moments too. those you were always thankful for. they boosted your own mood every time.

it was a sunny day, so a good day in your book. you decided to go for a walk through your neighborhood, when a sudden spike in fear rushed through your mind. you paused your walk and a frown ran over your face. that was the strongest emotion you'd ever gotten from your soulmate. and boy did it upset you.

somewhere, your soulmate was scared out of his wits. you flooded your mind with things that made you happy, in an attempt to shove those emotions on your soulmate, but it barely did anything. all you could feel was pure fear from your soulmate.

"stop it goddamnit." you whispered to yourself.

you started walking again when another rush of fear mixed with anger rushed over you, making you stumble a bit as you walked across a street. and that was the worst time you could've not payed attention to traffic.

a car had been driving by, and when your soulmate's emotions hit you again and you slowed in your walking, the car partially hit you. it knocked you down and sprained your ankle, just enough to land you in the hospital.

in the moment, that seemed like the worst thing that could've happened to you, but thinking back on it from the future, it was honestly pretty great.

the driver of the car called an ambulance and your mom was alerted to what happened. you ended up in the local hospital to get treated for your ankle.

your room was half empty, as the other cot had no one in it. until about thirty minutes after you were checked in. a short boy was walked in by some doctors and laid down on the cot next to you. he was very cute and looked about your age.

he had a look of pure panic on your face, which made you smile a bit as it reminded you of your soulmate.

"what happened to you?" you asked once all the doctors left your room.

the boy looked over at you in confusion, like he wanted to make sure you were talking to him.

"yes you." you said with a giggle.

confusion washed over his face, and you felt confusion in the back of mind. "wait." you said out loud, feeling confused yourself.

his eyes widened and you felt that same shock in the back of your mind. "oh my god. hi i'm
y/n nice to meet you." you said with a bright smile.

the boy laughed in relief and sat up in his bed. "i'm eddie. thank you. for being so happy i mean." he said with a shy smile.

"of course. i cant have my soulmate being so damn scared all the time. why was that?" you asked, about to finally get your answer.

"i'm literally scared of everything." eddie replied with a laugh, obviously knowing how ridiculous that sounded.
