Reunions and Promises

When I park at Funky Bones I see Augustus sitting there in a short sleeve button down which makes him look so much more attractive than he already is.

I smile "Hey you,"

"Hazel,"

We sit down on a park bench next to the sculpture and he takes my hand

"Hazel I've missed you so much..."

"Gus-"

"No listen, its like having the one thing you care about most ripped out of your life and it's like an empty hole in me."

I didn't know he thought about me that much....not that I'm complaining.

I look into his eyes, and he looks into mine. He cups my chin and kisses me and it turns into short desperate kisses until we break apart because people are looking,

"Lets go somewhere more private." I suggest

"That might be a good idea.." he laughs and so do I.

Gus pulls into a apartment block.

"What are we doing here?"

"There's a park behind it no one ever goes to."

"Oh, and we won't get in trouble?

"Nah. No one will notice, right?" He smiles and so do I "Right"

We walk behind the building and there's a field with benches and a small pond off to the side. The grass is making it hard for me to roll my oxygen tank and Gus notices because all of a sudden it's out of my hand and I'm able to walk more easily now.

I sigh thankfully "Thank you,"

"No problem."

We get to the pond and we sit down and I lay my head on his chest. I feel his hand run through my hair and he takes his hand and cups my chin, so I can look at him.

He kisses my forehead and then we both sit up and kiss each other. Slow at first, but then faster, more shorter, desperate kisses and he sticks his tongue in my mouth but I don't stop..... I don't stop. We break apart and he kisses my jawline, then my neck and back up to my forehead. He stops and says something that I will never forget-

"I have fallen madly in love with you, Hazel Grace and you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my entire life."

"I love you Augustus."

We start to kiss again and now it's way more passionate, like the one earlier and we kiss for a long time until we just lay cuddle together by the edge of the pond, not worrying about a thing.

I look up when my phone vibrates and I got a text from Mom.

Mom: When are you going to be home?

Me: I guess we can leave now, don't want dad to flip...

Mom: Okay see you soon sweetie.

Me: Okay.

"Gus...."

"Mmphhh?"

"My mom wants me home now."

"Never" and I laugh

"Okay, take me away!"

He smiles and I just have to smile when I see his, it's so beautifully crooked.

"Did I ever tell you Gus that I love your smile?" I say blushing red

"Yes you did"

"I did? When?"

"Thirty seconds ago."

"Oh, Haha." I say and he laughs

"But I'm being serious."

"I know, Hazel, I know.
