"Don't worry, I'm okay." Stan said seeing the worried look on Kayla's face. "I was just drained for a moment, but I'm fine."

Kayla sighed with relief, but asked, "Was it something I did Stan, that...hurt you?"

"I wasn't hurt. Gosh no, you were wonderful," he assured her. "I just...," gosh how do I explain this he wondered, "I was just overwhelmed...by my passion. Kind of like you were earlier...and it drained me," he finished rather uncomfortably.

"You were wonderful too," Kayla said appearing to accept his explanation. "I've never been kissed like that before. Thank you Stan."

Stan blushed, embarrassed to have her thank him for something that he had wanted probably more than she had. He had known what he was doing, but she was a virgin; she hadn't experienced anything like that before. He felt like he should be thanking her, but he was still touched by her words.

Stan knew that his time alone with Kayla would be over shortly, and he wanted to hold her for the short time they were still together.

"Come sit down by me," he urged. He opened his arms so that she sat with her back up against his chest and he could see the profile of her face outlined by the darkness. They sat looking at the moon and stars reflecting off of the waves of the Gulf, and then suddenly...

"Stan look," Kayla said pointing up at the stars. I looked up just in time to see the falling star that had got her so excited. "Make a wish! Hurry, make a wish...before it goes out," she said.

"Did you make a wish?" she asked after the supernova had disappeared.

"Yeah, I did. Did you?" I asked her.

"Yes I did, but I can't tell you what it is because it won't come true if I do" she said with a mischievous smile on her face.

"Okay," I agreed, "but you have to tell me when it does come true. Deal?"

"Deal," she said softly.

She looked so beautiful I kissed her gently on the cheek.

Although she was embarrassed to ask, Kayla wanted to talk to Stan about what had happened between them earlier. She wanted him to explain it to her but she didn't know exactly how to approach the subject, and she didn't want to sound stupid.

"You've been with a lot of girls, haven't you Stan?"

Although it was kind of true, Stan wondered what would make her ask him something like that. "Why do you say that?" he asked planting his chin on her shoulder with his mouth close to her ear.

"Because of what happened...to me, not you," she said quickly, "I have been kissed before Stan, but THAT didn't happen."

"Well, maybe that guy didn't know how to kiss," Stan said, not liking the idea of someone besides him kissing Kayla...or causing a similar reaction when kissing her.

"Honestly though, it doesn't happen a lot from just kissing," Stan said truthfully, feeling from her body language that she was blushing, "there is some skill involved among other things."

"Like what? What other things?" Kayla asked, wondering what he meant.

Stan sighed, he didn't want Kayla to think he was vain, but she had asked, and he didn't want her kissing every guy she met hoping for a similar reaction.

"Well," he began, "it helps a lot if you're attracted to the person who's kissing you."

Kayla blushed, "OMG," she thought to herself, "He knows." Kayla wasn't stupid, just a bit naive, but if he knows that I'm attracted to him because of my reaction to his kisses, she reasoned, then I wonder...

"Stan, are you attracted to me?" she rationalized.

"You have to ask me that after tonight?" Stan asked, "Why do girls always have to ask questions like that?"

"I don't know," Kayla said smiling, kind of embarassed now. Stan hadn't exactly answered her question, but she believed she already knew the answer because of his reaction from kissing her, just like he knew from her reaction to kissing him.

Kayla was exhausted, and she could tell that Stan was tired too, he had been trying to hide his yawning from her for a while now.

"Stan, we'd better get some sleep. Remember, you're the one that will be doing the driving in the morning," she reminded him.

"Yeah, I am kind of tired," Stan admitted, although he was disappointed that their time together would be over shortly.

Kayla got her brush from her overnight bag and began to brush her hair.

"What are you doing?" asked Stan, watching her strangely.

"Duh, I'm brushing my hair," she remarked jokingly, while wondering why he was looking at her so weird.

"Can I brush it?" asked Stan.

"Yeah, sure," Kayla answered handing him her brush as she sat down in front of him once again.

Stan gently brushed her hair, watching the moonlight play off the dark, wavy tresses.

"You have such beautiful hair," Stan said again, "Are you going to put it up?"

"Well, yeah I had planned to," she answered wondering what his fascination was with her hair, "If I don't it will be an unruly mess in the morning."

"You look so pretty with it down," he said making her blush, "You should wear it down more often."

"Hmm, maybe I will," Kayla said.

Stan handed Kayla her brush back and she vigorously finished brushing her hair into some semblance of order, put a scrunchy around it, and let it hang loose at the nape of her neck.

"Do you want to sleep out here on the beach or in the car?" she asked Stan. "If we sleep in the car, I can sleep in the front...since you would be more comfortable in the back."

"Well, we'll just sleep out here then," Stan said. He didn't want to sleep in the car if he couldn't hold her in his arms.

Kayla got the extra blanket out of the car and they laid down snuggling together like two spoons.

It didn't take long for Kayla's eyes to become heavy with sleep, but she remembered she had to tell Stan one more thing before she went to sleep.

"Stan," she murmured sleepily.

"Hmmm?" he asked drowsily.

"I forgot to tell you, I think you're kind of beautiful too," said Kayla.

Stan smiled remembering that he had told her that. He planted a kiss somewhere near her ear and hugged her even closer to him as they slept peacefully in each other's arms.
