it was getting close to shawns birthday, and aria and him hadn't exactly been talking a lot. they exchanged the odd "hey, how was your day?" over text, and maybe talked for a few minutes over the phone, but that was genuinely all they would do. nothing happened between them, in fact, they had been doing better than ever. people were more open to the idea of the two of them together, and they were still going on dates, up until the previous week, where the two of them just simply got too busy to talk.

aria still had the tickets to france though, and she had no idea who she would give the other one too. shawn expressed his chivalry by not even mentioning the trip to her once, but deep down, he did want to go to france with her. especially for his birthday.

aria decided to surprise shawn this morning, she had bought two takeout coffees from jane, and was on her way up to the condo, you know, to see him, and to also try and mend their 'no communication' phase.

she tapped her fist on the door lightly, but still with force, so it would be heard. she hears shuffling from the other side, and stands up straighter, sinking her teeth down on her lower lip.

"hey!" shawn exclaims, seeing aria outside his door, shocked, but still happy at the same time. "what are you doing here?" he chuckles, as she grins, greeting him with a hug.

"i came to see you, and i brought coffee," she hands him his cup, which he eagerly takes, thanking her with a sweet kiss upon her lips. "how are you? i feel like we haven't spoken for ages!"

"i'm good, thanks! sorry about the mess by the way, the guys were over last night, and we were writing songs, making songs, actually, we did a demo last night," shawn rambles, lightly clearing up his lounge, whilst the two of them sit on the couch. "i would've taken you out for dinner a few times this week, but i've just been so busy. i'm sorry."

"don't worry about it, i've been packing up my things for september, and you know, trying to bridge the gap between school and uni, just doing some reading and things," she shrugs. "i'm glad that you're getting songs done though."

"yeah, it is good," he grins. "is the place settled, then?" shawn asks, referring to the apartment aria has rented for uni. after her great aunt passed away, she ended up getting an inheritance, which allowed her to start renting a new place, one closer to the university, so she wouldn't have to stay in the dorms. her parents also helped, but her large settlement from teaching the junior ballet classes at her dance club helped significantly too.

"almost! which is exciting," she smiles. "you should come over and see it. i mean, i don't exactly have a couch, or much furniture yet, but the kitchens decent, and i have my record player in there, and a bed," she says, taking a sip of her coffee. "so, any 21st birthday plans yet?"

"i don't know, probably staying in with the guys, and the other guys, get some drinks, food, music, you know, the usual," he lists, sighing gently. "it's a shame you won't be here."

"yeah," she trails off. "about that, shawn."

"what is it?" he asks, concerned, and now intrigued.

"those tickets," she says, putting her coffee down on the table, sitting up straight, and turning her body to shawn. "i want you to come with me. like we planned."

"y-you do?" he asks, his heart beat racing, as he sits up, looking at her optimistically. "are you sure, aria?"

"yeah, i'm positive," she nods. "i want us to go to france together, and do all the things we planned to do."

"aria," he grins, feeling completely and utterly in awe and in love with her. "i'd love to."

"really? oh, that's great, i'm really happy now," she smiles softly, bringing her hand up, and brushing away the curls that rest down on his forehead. "i can't wait."
