Iain has just crept in after an eventful night shift around the streets of Holby with his new partner, Ruby. It had been madness in the ED, gun and knife crimes were on the rise in the streets and nowhere seemed safe at all. Iain was grateful the shift was over and that himself and Ruby were safe above all else. There had been so many threats to their lives tonight that most of the time they were accompanied by a police officer to the scene of the crime or even to the hospital in some cases.
Iain quietly shuts the door behind himself as he steps into the house, his relationship with Sam had been taken to the next level but they had decided to keep it secret for now. Still they weren't sharing a bed but it was baby steps, they love each other's company above all else.
He quietly removes his shoes and puts his bag down, he turns and deadlocks the door with the key before hanging it up and dropping the blinds on the window next to the door. Then he switches off the hallway light and walks into the lounge where Sam was sleeping, He peers over the sofa to see Sam curled up on the sofa bed, peacefully asleep.
Iain walks into the kitchen and turns the kettle on and searches the cupboard for a breakfast bar to tire over his hunger until later in the morning. He sets himself up a coffee and waits for the kettle to boil. Once boiled and poured he walks into the lounge and sits on the sofa with his feet up watching Sam peacefully sleep on the opposite sofa.
He watches her chest slowly rise and fall, he smiles to himself and sips his coffee as he is joined on the sofa by his dog, a cocker spaniel called 'Rosie', she sits herself down on his lap and curls up as he fusses her.
"Have you been keeping Sam company?... Good girl" Iain smiles as he talks to Rosie like she's a good child. Rosie was like his child, but a child that obeyed almost every command.
Rosie looks up at him as she pants and then licks his face which Iain doesn't mind at all. He sits there for a while longer before moving Rosie off his lap, putting his coffee mug in the sink to be washed up. He then heads back into the lounge where Rosie has curled back up to Sam, he smiles and pulls her covers over her a bit more and then heads upstairs to bed. It had been a heck of a busy day and now all he wanted was to sleep.
He wakes three hours later to Sam downstairs who has woken and is currently in the bathroom, she had never felt this well in a while, it was like she was a new person although her knees were still giving her bother so she remained on pain relief and anti-inflammatory.
Once clean and fresh out the bathroom she heads back into the lounge and through to the kitchen without her crutches to feed Rosie and her Cat Freddy, she feeds them and then moves on to making herself a cup of tea to prepare her for the morning.
She makes her cup of tea and heads back through to the lounge, she couldn't believe how long she had actually stood for but she knew It was getting better.
Iain then appears downstairs and looks at her "Good morning" She smiles happily as she looks over her shoulder at him.
"What are you so cheerful about this morning?" Iain smirks.
"Oh you know, it's good to be alive" She giggles.
Iain smiles and rolls his eyes, "Now Samantha Lilliana how many of them happy, slappy pills have you been taking?" He teases as he leans over the sofa and tickles her sides.
She lets out a squeal and lifts her cup of tea up to try and prevent her spilling it all over herself. "None, just pain relief" She smiles.
"What... you're in pain?" He questions and Sam nods as she sips her tea.
"Just the knees playing up. I think I might have to take it easy today. Although I feel brilliant, don't want to put my recovery back at all" She explains to Iain who completely understands her, he then sits beside her and kisses her cheek wondering if this relationship would ever take flight.
"well it's a lazy day for us both them, I recon we catch up on sleep and binge watch Game of Thrones and Black Mirror... what do you say?" Iain suggests.
Sam smiles "Of course, sounds like a plan."
Iain sits back and looks at Sam once more and she gives a cheery smile back to him. He hoped this would take off and he would get a stable relationship, which would hold its own with very few arguments.
