Stand-by Me

A Getaway

It's been some weeks since Sam and Iain took their relationship to the next level. Sam had been seriously improving in her mobility and is now walking with one crutch and had begun her integration back into work, starting with working in the control room.

Iain, had gone back to work but couldn't help but think about his relationship with Sam, did he really want a committed relationship or was it just a fling, with nothing to ever last.

Iain is currently at home sat with his laptop, a cup of coffee in hand and a few biscuits at his side, he is currently looking at weekend getaway holidays for himself and Sam, he would love to take her away even if they were just friends instead of a relationship.

He comes across a getaway weekend in central London for just under £400 in a 4-star hotel which looks across the river themes, it seems cheap and affordable for him so decides to book it out. He books with the website but unfortunately even if they went as friends they would end up sharing the bed in the hotel.

Iain enters his card details and then finalizes the booking before looking and researching into different sights to go see around London for either a cheap cost or even free of charge. While researching into sight-seeing around London Iain buys two oyster cards and considers all types of transport for themselves and especially for Sam as she may not make the whole day standing.

Around thirty minutes later Iain texts Sam, to see how she is getting on. Iain doesn't get a reply for a while so decides to just keep researching into different places around London and around 10 minutes later he finally gets a reply.

He smiles to himself as she has told him she misses being out on the front line although it's interesting to see and hear what goes on in the control center.

Iain carries on research before Sam texts again to see if she can come round this evening for a couple of hours which Iain is quick to reply to as he likes her company. Iain then decides to prepare dinner for himself and Sam.

Iain then prints the booking confirmation or the weekend getaway in London and places the two pieces of paper inside a small envelope which he plans to give Sam when they have dinner later.

Four hours later Sam arrives at Iain's and Iain decides to put the dinner on while she's in the shower. He sorts what he needs to sort and the allows the food time to cook, Iain sits himself down on the sofa and waits for Sam to appear again.

She soon comes back downstairs in her pajamas and sits beside Iain. She gives a heavy sigh and rests her head against Iain's shoulder. "What's wrong then?" Iain questions.

"Just... tired" Sam mutters and shuts her eyes.

"Don't get falling asleep just yet. I've made us dinner; you can sleep after" He smiles as sits himself up so it makes Sam move. Sam looks up at Iain as he stands.

She moans and looks up at him with sad eyes, "I was comfy" She moans.

Iain laughs and goes into the kitchen and serves up their dinners, he then gets two glasses and the bottle of diet Pepsi and carries it into the lounge and places it on the small glass table in the middle of the room, he then heads back into the kitchen, grabs two trays and stacks them before putting the two plates on the tray and carrying them into the lounge. He stops halfway and grabs the envelope with their holiday getaway in and then sits beside Sam and gives her a tray and her dinner.

"So... I have something for you" Iain smiles and looks at Sam, Sam raises an eyebrow as she's intrigued by what Iain has got her.

"What is it?" She asks with a grin.

Iain then hands her the envelope and smiles at her, Sam takes the envelope and looks at it for a second before opening it. She pulls the two pieces of paper out and reads carefully, "Oh, Wow... Iain, this is fabulous!" Sam beams as she hugs him carefully from the side as they have their dinners on their laps.

"Glad you like it! I've planned lots of sight-seeing and stuff for us to do while down there" He explains and hugs her back slightly.

They both start to eat their dinner and make great conversation over the meal about their day and also about the weekend away.
