Sam has now been out of her coma four days and now she is preparing for her first session of physiotherapy. She is currently getting dressed with the help of a staff nurse, but slowly Sam's patients are thinning as she wants to get dress.
"No, Let me!" Sam snaps finally as she wants to be dressed and on time for her first session. The nurse rolls her eyes and lets Sam dress herself, she watches her as she seems to struggle with her socks. Slowly but surely she shows her independence and gets dressed. "See, I'm not futile!" Sam smirks.
Once the nurse has left her be she sits on the edge of the bed waiting for the porter, who is to take her down to physio. While sitting and waiting, Iain arrives with a bag of clothes for her and other things. "Nice to see you up and dressed" Iain smiles as he comes and places the bag down on her bed.
"Hi, erm... Iain, how much did you pack? I'm not planning on staying here very long" she smiles as she unzips the bag and searches through it.
She comes across her iPad, clothes, wash bag, shoes including slippers and underwear. "Oh my god Iain... you went through my underwear draw?" Sam panics but starts to flush red.
Iain blushes also and nods "Sorry, but you needed clean underwear" He explains and tries not to show his embarrassment.
"I guess so" She replies as she tries not to make eye contact with Iain.
Iain smiles and sits down opposite her, "You finally got a physiotherapy session?" He questions and Sam nods.
They sit talking for ten minutes before the porter arrives. Iain and the porter help Sam stand and then sit her down in the wheelchair "Ready?" The porter asks.
Sam nods and they then head down to where Sam's physiotherapy session is taking place, "I shall leave you here, the physio won't be long now" The porter says as he leaves Sam with Iain in an empty waiting room.
"What did they do with all the patients down here? Put them all in a cupboard or something?" Iain laughs while trying to make small talk with Sam.
"ha, yeah" She laughs awkwardly.
Sam looks down at her lap and plays with her patient ID on her left wrist, "So, I was thinking maybe we could get some lunch downstairs after this? I mean you have got the wheelchair for as long as you need today" Iain smiles.
She thinks to herself for a while, "Actually... Nice offer and all but I'm probably going to be tired after this. Maybe another day" Sam replies, letting Iain down slowly.
Sam knew exactly what Iain was asking, she felt something towards him also but she wasn't exactly sure what her feelings were. "Oh..." He replies slightly let down by her.
Soon, Sam is called into her session but Iain waits outside thinking about how he had actually proceeded across to Sam. He wonders if he has come on too strong to her, but he wasn't even sure if it was flirting or him just being friendly.
Around thirty minutes later Sam returns back in the wheelchair, which is being pushed by the physio. "How was it?" Iain smiles as he looks up from his phone.
"Hell!" Is all Iain gets from Sam.
The physio smirks and leaves them be with her discharge notes and notes for more sessions to come.
"It can't be all that bad, anyway what did they say?" Iain questions.
"I'm discharged as from now, but I'm being placed on the out-patients register for more physio sessions to come" Sam explains to Iain.
Iain listens with great interest to what Sam has to say, "Well that's great news... but how are you going to get on alone at home?" He questions.
Sam stops for a second and thinks to herself, "I... didn't think about that" She replies.
Iain smiles and takes a breath in before beginning, "You could come to stop with me... bring your cat? I'm sure my dog won't mind, There's a sofa bed and my bathroom is downstairs anyway... so, what do you say?"
"Erm... sure. If it's not a big fuss" Sam replies shyly.
"It's no fuss. So shall we go get your stuff and then go back to yours... to get your cat?" Iain smiles and Sam nods as Iain pushes her down the corridor.
