I was deep in my thoughts when something came to me.

I've been at the Curtis house all day with Two-bit. I really needed to get out.

Maybe go on a walk to the dingo and grab a bite to eat while I'm at it.

I then looked and called out to him, "Hey, Two-bit."

He turned his head facing me like something was the matter as I said,

"I'm headed off to the Dingo for lunch want to come with?"

He smiled and said, "Well sure, Shay."
He turned off Mickey Mouse and closed the door following me out.

I tied my black and white converse shoes out on the front porch.

He then asked me, "You sure you want to go eat out?"

I said, "Yeah, I really do."

He then walked beside me. Our hands would touch sometimes as we swayed them back and forth.

I could always feel something light up in me when they did.

I figured I would come clean and tell him about my parents when we got inside.

He then waved a hand in front of my face and said, "Hello, anyone home?"

I shook my head and said, "Yeah."

He chuckled and said, "Good, just checkin...you kinda zoned out."

I nervously twiddled my thumbs back and forth while staring at the ground.

I then called his name, "Two-bit."

I can feel my heart beating faster, and I've only said his name.

He asked, "Yeah, Shay?"

I take a calm but shaky breath and ask, "Can I tell you something at the Dingo?"

He nodded his head thoughtfully and said, "Yeah, Shay, you know you can always come to me."

I repeated his line back to him, "Just checkin."

Minutes pass and we arrive to the Dingo. Something was a little off.

There were several Socs guarding the entrance, and I didn't want any trouble.

I tensed up when I saw their bottles of alcohols and Two-bit noticed.

He grabbed my hand and made himself a shield over me as he guided me inside safely.

Butterflies fluttered in my stomach and my cheeks turned a bright red, so I looked away hoping he didn't notice.

He then let go of my hand as we came across a booth in the back we sat at.

I sat across from him, and we both ordered cokes.

I looked out the window for a split second to notice the beach that greasers felt free to use.

There was the beautiful water gazing at the sand as it came flooding over it.

How the big birds flew over the sand and some even in the sky.

How every kid was out there swimming in the hot summer air.

My thoughts got a little distracted as I hear my name, "Shay."

I looked across at Two-bit as he asked me, "What is it you wanted to tell me."

I gulped slowly and said, "Oh y-yeah right um..."

I began to get so nervous and tongue tied, and I became really scared.

I wasn't scared because I was going to finally tell them the abuse I'm getting at home with my parents and everything but that I was about to tell the guy that I'm in love with what's going on.

He calmly put his hand over mine and said, "Shay, just spit it out. It's alright."

I took a slow breath as I explained my whole problem, "So, like...here's the thing I get home super late and I leave home super early. It's only because of my parents abuse and I'm sick of it! I don't know how Johnny handles it. I don't want to come home scared of all the things that will happen to me. It's driving me crazy, and I just can't be there anymore."

I looked up to see him staring concerned right back at me, so I looked down from the eye contact.

He asked me, "Shay, why didn't you tell me sooner?"

I replied, "I don't know I guess I was just scared."

He asked confused, "Scared of what? Shay, you don't have to be scared. You can always tell me anything."

When saying my name, he place his fingers under my chin making me look up at him.

Then he continued talking, "But I'll say this you are not staying there anymore."

I sighed and said, "Two-bit, I wish I couldn't, but I have nowhere else to go."

He then replied, "Correction! You do because you'll be staying with me and my mom."

I shook my head no and said, "I can't do that, that's too much to ask."

He said, "Well, you weren't asking. I offered."

I bit my lip shyly trying to hide a smile.

I then asked, "Are you sure your mom won't mind?"

He said, "No, of course not. You know how much she loves you."

It is true. I think she loves me a little more than her own son.

She always is happy to see me and surprises me with gifts sometimes.

I then came to his side of the booth hugging him literally to death.

"Aw thank you so much!"

Wow, me crashing at Two-bit's house is  going to change a lot of things.

Maybe even how he sees me...
