"What's happening?!" Jisung asks, brows furrowed when he sees maids and knights running back and forth the hallways. "I asked one of the maids and it seems that today is the day prince Hyunjin is tasked to look for a potential wife. It's done twice a year" Jeongin mutters as he and Minho accompany the prince to the dining room for breakfast.
When the three enter the dining room, they're faced with a very tired version of yourself and a very bored version of prince Hyunjin.
"Good morning dame y/n!" Jeongin, the boy who you now labelled as a literal ball of sunshine, says with a bright smile. "What's good in the morning" You mutter. A part of you felt bad for sounding so grumpy but you were just too tired to care.
You were forced to stay up all night to help prepare for the event since of course, refreshments and snacks were needed, new guards had to be informed with the flow of the event and how to deal with some crazed girls, that and all of the little details in between.
And that night, just when you thought that you could finally rest, Hyunjin had asked you to meet up with him at the rose garden, and you being his knight and best friend, didn't really have a choice but to go.
"You weren't with me the whole day" He said with a pout when he saw you. At first, your initial plan was to lash out at him and/or ask him if you could sleep but seeing the prince's child-like personality, and knowing that he genuinely wanted to hangout, how could you just leave him? Besides, a part of you did miss being by his side. Although of course, you'd never admit that to anyone.
Which is how you ended up with zero hours of sleep.
The three were shocked at how grumpy you were but chose not to speak about it. On the way to his seat, Jisung patted your head, your eyes going wide. The action didn't go unnoticed by Jeongin and Minho although since you were standing behind Hyunjin's seat, the other prince was oblivious to the little gesture.
As you stared at the boy in front you (who sat across Hyunjin) a part of you wondered how he could act so jolly. It had been about a week since he, Minho and Jeongin (who Jisung's parents asked to stay with the two) have been living with the Hwangs.
A week since that incident in his room.
And when you expected things to get awkward or off, Jisung simply acted as though nothing ever happened when you both saw each other the next day. And a part of you felt grateful but at the same time, it made you realize how much he was hiding behind his smile."Wait, so Hyunjin get's to pick a wife today?" Jisung asks once he's taken a seat and food is served to him.
For a moment, you and Minho lock eyes and you can both immediately tell what the other person is thinking. 'What's really on Jisung's mind and is he okay' Because unlike Hyunjin, Jisung's future was already planned out.
"Yup. Unless he doesn't! Then we'll have to do the damn event again in a few months" You mutter harshly.
There was one main reason as to why you hated this event.
Because all that you did throughout the day was stand beside Hyunjin, accept the gifts that the girls give him, thank them with the most forced smile, and try to be kind even though the girls are already sending death glares your way or cursing at you, and calling you mean things."Last year sucked" Hyunjin said with a scoff.
"And this year'll probably be worse. I swear to God if that girl who 'spilled' her drink on me is there again I am socking her in the face!"
"Someone spilled a drink on you?" Minho asked with a brow arched, unable to believe that someone would do that. "More of threw it directly at me while saying with the ugliest voice ever that 'oh, It slipped'" "Why..." Minho trailed off.
"The bitch said I was standing too close to the all high and mighty prince" You say with silly gestures and a mocking tone. "Just find a wife already!" You added, your attention now on Hyunjin, as you hit the guy who was trying to peacefully eat breakfast on the head.
For the past week that Jisung had been living here, he, Minho and Jeongin trailed behind you and Hyunjin a lot. The number of times that they had caught you speaking informally to Hyunjin were more than all of their fingers could count so in the end, you all decided not to speak formally when it was just you guys.
"Why don't you just marry me so that we don't have to do this stupid event every year" Hyunjin said, leaning his head back on his chair until his eyes locked with yours.
As you stared down at the prince, for a moment, you were caught off guard by how handsome he looked. Being around him so much, you never really paid much attention to his features anymore but right now, that was all you could think of.
"What do you say y/n? Marry me?" He asks, booping your nose. Your eyes were wide at his statement but you repetitively told yourself that it was probably a joke.
Although the serious look on his face told you otherwise.
"YAH! HWANG HYUNJIN! I'M SERIOUS HERE!" You suddenly scream, flicking his forehead. "I'm heading out real quick" You add, walking out of the dining room. "OUCH THAT HURT! YAH! SONG Y/N DON'T YOU WALK AWAY- YAH!" Hyunjin got up from his seat but before he could go after you, you were already out of the room.
"And you're telling us that you don't like that way?" Jeongin asks, jaw dropped at the interaction he just saw. Hyunjin quickly whips his head to the three others boys in the room which he completely forgot about.
His cheeks flush but he quickly dismisses the topic by muttering "I'm gonna go get ready for later. See you" and walking out.
