It had been a week since the incident. You still haven't woke up.

Hyunjin didn't want to leave your side the night of the incident. He asked a maid to get him a blanket and pillow and decided to sleep on the floor beside your bed. "Hyunjin you could get sick sleeping on the cold floor. We could get you a bed or at least a mattre-" "-Nayeon leave me be"

Despite a lot of protests and nagging from castle staff, Chan, Nayeon, Changbin, Felix and even Seungmin who had to travel from a far place to get there, Hyunjin never left the room unless he needed to use the washroom.

He barely ate either.

"y/n hasn't eaten in days, I don't deserve the luxury of food" "Hyunjin you're being ridiculous" Seungmin muttered as he tried to make his best friend finish his plate of food.

A week in and everyone knew that Hyunjin needed to get out of that room.

The prince was currently seated on the ground, staring blankly at the wall when he heard the door open. He quickly scrambled off the floor and went in a defensive stance. Expecting it to be Chan trying to convince him to go back to his lessons, he started cursing at the guy.

"CHAN FOR THE LAST FUCKING TIME I AM NOT LEAVING HER UNTIL SHE WAKES THE FUCK U- hi mom"

Hyunjin's eyes go wide when he sees the queen in front of him, anger painted across her face.

"Hwang Hyunjin! I did not raise you to curse at your mentor! I understand that you care about y/n but as your mother and queen of this kingdom I demand that you get out of this room right now and do whatever is next your schedule! It has been a week since you went out of this room and it is bad for your health!"

Hyunjin purses his lips together. Behind his mother, Hyunjin could see Chan, Nayeon and Seungmin who had sympathetic looks on their faces.

At that point Hyunjin just wanted to scream, lash out, push everyone out of the room and lock himself in until you woke up. But he knew better. Despite not wanting to admit it, his mother was right. And he was in no position to talk back to her.

So he swallowed his pride and anger. "I apologize mother, I'll head over to my next lesson"

Hyunjin glanced at you one last time before finally leaving the room. On the way out of the clinic, his eyes locked with Jisung's who was just about to enter. He saw that the boy was carrying fresh flowers.

Ever since the incident, Hyunjin hadn't spoken to his cousin. He knew it was wrong of him to accuse Jisung for what happened to you but he had to blame someone for it.

The two never spoke but everyday throughout the week, Jisung entered the room to bring you flowers.

"Jisung?" He muttered just as he passed the boy. The both of them stop in their tracks and turn to face each other.

"Y-yeah?" Jisung asked, still taken aback by the fact that Hyunjin had actually spoken to him.

"Take care of her"

And with that ending statement, Hyunjin headed to his study.

"I hate myself" Hyunjin mutters as he lays on his desk, staring at the crown molding of the room to distract himself. Chan sighed, putting down the piece of chalk in his hand and approaching the boy.

The moment Hyunjin entered study, before Chan could even begin the day's lesson, Hyunjin suddenly swept all of the stuff off of his desk and laid down, his hands stretched back to support his head.

"Hyunji-"

"-I blame Jisung for what happened but on the inside I think that it's still somehow my fault" Hyunjin continues to voice out his thoughts, ignoring Chan and covering his eyes with one of his arms as memories of when you were younger flash in his head.

"Hyunjin, it's her job as a kni-"

Hyunjin didn't know but anything related to your knighthood ticked him off now. And when Chan said those words, something in him snapped.

"-I DON'T CARE CHAN!" He screamed, sitting up and glaring at the guy  "She... she promised me that she'd be okay" Towards the end, Hyunjin's voice got softer and for some reason, he felt himself tear up because all that he could think about was your beaten body.

And rather than facing his mentor, he opted to stare at the ceiling, taking a deep breath to prevent tears from falling down.

"Hyunjin. y/n will be okay!"

Hyunjin scoffs at Chan words before a bitter, chuckle escapes his lips, making it seem as though he's gone insane.

"That's what people told me nine years ago Chan. And you know what happened? There was a possibility that she wouldn't wake up. She almost died Chan... One of the most important people to me almost died..." Hyunjin's words come out as a whisper towards the end, his head hung low.

Chan's eyes go wide.
Hyunjin was many things. He was smart but lazy, a bit cocky, arrogant, selfish when it came to things that he wanted, bratty but kind, strong, handsome and many more.

But Hyunjin was never vulnerable.

If Hyunjin broke down, he'd hide or lock himself in his room, if he was sad, he masked it with irritation. But the boy who was seated before Chan right now seemed so small. And it made him realize that what Hyunjin needed right now wasn't advice, but someone who would listen to him.

"...What if I was able to stop her from going? What if- what if I went with her and helped her fight off those assholes?! What if I- What if I forced her to tell me Jisung's secret about the wall so that I could block it up? What if..." At that point, Hyunjin's tears were blurring his vision so he laid down again and covered his face in his hands.

Once he did so, Chan glanced around the room and decided to pick up the scattered things across the room as he gave Hyunjin a moment to recollect himself.

"Don't" Hyunjin mutters, making Chan halt his actions.

"y/n fixes my desk. Let her fix it when she wakes up"

It was currently dinner time, the dining room was filled with nothing but the sounds of metal utensils cutting through meat as the royal family ate and the knights stood still. Since you were still injured, Felix was temporarily assigned to guard Hyunjin although since the prince locked himself up in your room for a week, Felix didn't do much except wait outside.

He was currently standing by the side of the dining room when Nayeon walked towards him with hurried steps before whispering something in his ear that made his eyes go wide.

The sound of Nayeon's feet on the stone floors echoed across the room along with his whispers. And this of course, didn't go unnoticed by the royal family. But after a quick glance, everyone ignored it and went back to their meals.

Except Hyunjin.

The prince already knew what Nayeon's message was based on Felix's reaction and the fact that a medic was relaying something. Before Nayeon had even finished talking to Felix, Hyunjin already pushed his chair back.

And just when he was about to stand and head out, his father's words echoed across the room, making Hyunjin halt in his actions.

"Hyunjin sit down. It's rude to leave in the middle of dinner"
