"Okay... I don't got this"

You were literally laughing your ass off as you stared at the boy who just fell from two feet off of the ground.

"Thought you knew how to climb trees Sungie~"

"Just please help me up" He muttered as he glared at you, still on the ground, already looking done with the whole thing.

"Give me a minute"

You disappear from Jisung's line of sight and a minute later, the sound of rusty cogs spinning echoed through the forest and in a matter of seconds, the gate opened.

"Let's head in!" You say, standing from the entrance.

*

After over an hour of running around, exploring the ruined kingdom and chatting away, you and Jisung found yourselves seated on dusty royal chairs which were placed on the balcony that overlooked a ruined ballroom dance floor which moonlight shone at through the old broken windows.

"No fair y/n! You cheated at the last game!" The prince whined as he threw a small piece of rubble at your head.

"YAH! It's not my fault you're scared of heights!" You mutter, recalling your game of hide and seek gone wrong when you decided to hide by the window ledge at one of the top floors.

"Anyway let's- Jisung what are you doing?"

Your brows were furrowed as you stared at the boy who was currently down on one knee, a hand stretched out to you.

"May I have this dance your highness?" He asks, looking up to you.

You glance around the room for a second and chuckle when you realize what he was getting at. Then you grab his hand, saying "Why of course sir Han!" before letting him lead you down the staircase of the balcony and to the moonlit dance floor.

You stop in your tracks when you're both finally at the center of the ballroom.

Despite the fact that it was somewhat of a desolated building, despite the fact that it was just the two of you on the dance floor, despite the fact that you were both just in casual attire, you felt nervous.

It was as if you both went back in time. The chandelier in the ballroom was still hanging, lively music was playing in the background, the buzzing sound of small exchange of words from various people echoed while you were in an extravagant ballgown.

And the moment that Jisung took your hand and led you to the middle of the space, the music stopped, the conversations died down and all eyes were on you.

"Jisung... I don't know how to dance" you muttered, staring at the ground.

When Jisung doesn't respond, you look up at him to see him staring at you in disbelief and amusement all at the same time.

"W-what?! Stop looking at me like that!" You whine, hitting his chest.

"I- It's not about the fact that you don't dance but... you were just really... really cute a second ago"

"What?"

Jisung simply chuckles and pinches your cheek.
And for a moment, the only thing in your mind was Han Jisung.

"Dancing is easy. Here-"

His words snap you back to reality but before you could process the situation, Jisung steps closer and gets your left hand, placing it on his shoulder before holding your right in his and raising it up a bit while resting his left hand on your waist.

He was so close.

"-Now we simply sway to the beat"

Nothing was properly processing anymore. At that point, you simply let your feet follow Jisung as he swayed to an imaginary beat. "Wow, you're not that bad of a dancer y/n!"

"Thanks..." You replied absent-mindedly.

"Now for slow songs, we go like this"

Jisung places your right hand on his shoulder as well before resting his hands on your hips and pulling you a bit closer.

Barely an inch away from each other, bodies close, his scent intoxicating you, his warmth surrounding you and protecting you from the cold feeling that the night gave, the mood suddenly shifted into something ethereal yet melancholic.

The moment just felt so perfect that it made you scared. Scared that it would be taken away from you just like every other good thing that happened in your life. Scared that it would have to end.

Jisung tenses for a moment when you lean your head on his chest, wrapping your arms around his neck and closing the distance between you both as you followed his small steps to the imaginary beat. Although in a matter of seconds, his arms are wrapped around your waist, practically hugging you as you closed your eyes and let the beating of his heart calm your nerves down.

"Jisung... thank you."

The air suddenly stills.

You slowly open your eyes when you realize that you both aren't swaying anymore.

"Jisung?"

You pull away a bit and look up to face the prince, his chocolate brown orbs locking with yours. Confusion washes over your features when you see him staring back at you with such sad eyes.

"What's wrong?"

Jisung was confused.

At that point, he didn't know what to do. 'Live in the moment Han Jisung. Even if it's just for one night, enjoy it' His earlier resolve was crumbling down as everything that he either hated or feared flashed in his head. You feel his grip on your waist tighten before he leans his head on your shoulder as he tries to engrave this memory, the feeling of having his arms around you, in his head.

"I- I don't want this to end"

And Jisung's voice sounded just as broken as the the night when his parents left him in your kingdom, and you delivered food to his room to end up in a tight embrace as he whispered his inner thoughts.

"Jisu-"

The said guy pulls away before the knuckles of his hand slowly brush against your cheek, the actions cutting you off.

"y/n, can I be selfish today?"

His question catches you off guard but your shock slowly fades away as you stare at the prince. And as if something was pulling you in, you lean in to his touch, with Jisung taking the gesture as an answer.

'yes'

Then, his other hand is off of your waist. Seconds later, you feel the warmth of his palms on your cheeks. He cups them slowly. So delicately as if you were as fragile as a flower.

As you looked at him with dazed eyes, his own orbs close and he tilts his head as he slowly leans in.

You honestly didn't know why nor did you care at that moment but your body felt like it wasn't your own. Your eyes shut as well and you leaned forward, already feeling his lips ghosting over yours.

The night was silent and you felt the prince pause for a moment, as if he was afraid to break you.

Jisung was just a breath away but when you realize he hasn't completely closed the gap between you both, you slowly open your eyes to see him looking down at your lips with his dazed orbs.

"I'm sorry." He suddenly whispers, hands slowly leaving your cheeks and falling to the side.

"I just can't." Jisung takes a step back.

And you swore that the pained, confused, and conflicted look he showed hurt you more than any physical wound could ever inflict.

You sighed.

At that moment you both knew. You  both realized each other's fears, felt each other's pain and silently cried over the ethereal moment that you both wished would never end but knew it would.

"I know Jisung. Me too."
