charlotte's point of view

i woke up on my bed again. i looked down to my clothes, i had my pjs on. did i just dream it?

"next time you try to run away," christopher began as he walked into my room with a tray in hand. "make sure to wear something to keep you warm."

i scoffed. "i thought i would be back by evening." he threw my phone onto the bed. i sat up and smiled, "where did you get it?"

"richard had it." he shrugged and sat down beside me. "you have to be careful with that next time, imagine what he could find in there."

he placed the tray over our laps. it contained a plate of waffles with nutella and cream over it, a small plate of fruit salad, orange juice and coffee. i immediately devoured the waffles, they were my favorite.

"dad knows about richard already?" christopher murmured softly. "he told me about him being the son of..."

i put my fork down and turned to him. "he's the one that told me who he is, but i'm the only one who knows, or thinks, he's the one who wants to kill me. i have to find proof, real proof."

i grabbed my phone and scrolled through my contacts until i found richard. my finger hovered over his number for a couple of seconds. i needed to find out more about him. the real him. i wouldn't find the answers i needed by going on little dates with him. i locked my phone and placed it back on my bed.

"i need you to track his number, and i know it won't be easy to decipher, but can you do it?"

"it's going to be hard, not impossible." he stated.

"no pressure," i reassured him. "take as long as you need to make sure you get the right location."

"i have a question though. why don't you just follow him?" he asked me.

i bit my lip. "he knows me. he would find out as soon as i stepped out of this place. besides, if he is indeed an assassin he's going to notice someone following him immediately."

he groaned. "this is so complicated."

"welcome to my life." i shrugged.

he kissed my forehead and stood up. "my dad's going to have my head for helping you." he walked out of my room mumbling something under his breath.

"thank you!" i shouted when he was at the door. he answered me by slamming it shut. i huffed and turned back to my delicious breakfast, no way i would let all this food go to waste.
