charlotte's point of view

"your parents hate me." richard mumbled out of nowhere.

i opened my eyes and tried to look at him in the darkness. "richard, what the fuck?"

"i got you pregnant. now they're going to kill me."

i facepalmed so hard i almost slapped myself. "what time is it?"

he grabbed his phone. "almost five in the morning."

"are you telling me," i sat up straight. "that you woke me up at this fucking hour to tell me something i already knew?"

his eyes widened. "so they are going to kill me."

i sighed. "not that part, babe."

he looked down. "they're going to separate us."

i tried my best not to remember my mom's words right before she reluctantly left. my dad is the best, i was always his weakness. my mom on the other hand... was tougher. she wanted me to be like my parents, but i'm sure i could never be as good as them.

"if it makes you feel any better... my dad hasn't closed the door to the possibility of getting to know you."

he smiled. "really?"

i nodded and reached out for him. "really. i bet i can get him to talk to you, as long as my mom doesn't know, of course. she's the one could kill you."

he widened his eyes and opened his mouth to retort, but i shut him up with a kiss. he smiled and pulled away. "i love you."

i pecked his lips before laying back down. "and i love you, now get some sleep."

he nodded and shifted in the chair until he was comfortable. i closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but i couldn't. i kept rolling around the bed, but not too much because otherwise i would end up on the floor.

i turned towards richard. his eyes were closed, but i knew he was awake. i kept staring him for a couple of moments. i wish it could be like this forever, falling asleep with him beside me.

"take a picture, it lasts longer."

i grinned. "pass me my phone, then."

he chuckled and opened his eyes. "can't sleep?"

i shook my head. he got up from his seat to stand closer to the bed. i grabbed his wrist and motioned for him to get on the bed with me.

"i don't want to hurt you." he mumbled.

"i'll be fine, it doesn't even hurt anymore."

he didn't seem convinced, but i managed to get him to lay down on the small bed with me. he slipped under the covers and wrapped his arms around me.

"goodnight, princesses."

i wanted to tell him that the baby wasn't a girl, but i liked that he called us princesses. "goodnight, babe." i mumbled before drifting back to sleep.
