charlotte's point of view
merry christmas!

"tell me again why you're here instead of the hospital?" richard whispered in my ear.

"i'm not letting him kill my mother. she may have been acting like an asshole lately, but she's still my mom."

he sighed. "what about your dad?"

i shook my head. "he will be fine at the hospital. christopher and zabdiel won't leave his side."

"i still think they should've came with us." he lead me to a table so i could sit down. i underestimated how much my legs would hurt after forcing myself to walk the whole night. "if we're right about my dad, we should have backup."

"we have backup."

"i'm not backup." liz said in our earpieces.

i pressed my lips together. "i would rather them keep my dad safe than be here."

"you're pregnant, charlotte. you should be resting."

"he's right. remember what the doctor said."

i scoffed. "you two make me wish that i could drink alcohol and ignore you both."

"guys... i lost visual on charlotte's mom. she was headed into a door on the east wing but there are no cameras inside. good thing is, i still have eyes on richard's dad."

"copy that. we're moving."

richard got up and stuck his arm out for me. i held onto him and we made our way to the east wing.

"if you're not gonna stay seated, at least stay behind me if we get into a dangerous situation." richard glanced at me.

i bit my lip and nodded, even though i didn't know how i would react if he was in danger.

"it's the third door on your left."

we walked to the door and almost snuck in when liz startled us.

"get out of there, someone's coming."

"there's no time to hide." richard groaned and pulled me to the wall beside the door we were supposed to go into. he pressed me against it with his own body and smashed his lips onto mine. i was surprised, but slowly wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.

i quickly caught on that he was doing it to make it seem like we were a horny couple looking for a private place to hook up, but he also seemed desperate to finally kiss me. he licked my bottom lip, asking for permission, but i decided to tease him and keep my mouth shut. his hand snuck down to my butt. a giggle escaped me and he took advantage of it.

"who's there?" a voice made us jump apart. i hid my face in richard's chest in case he would recognize me. "mr. camacho, i'm so sorry." his voice instantly changed as soon as he realized it was richard. his footsteps grew closer and i looked up in time to see him disappear in the door my mom had walked into before. we locked eyes. this could only mean one thing.

"richard's dad is on the move and i would bet anything that he's going to the east wing."

"we have to go in. now or never." i kept my eyes on richard's, but he refused to meet mine.

after a moment he finally held me by my waist and we finally walked into the room. strangely enough, it was just an empty storage room. there was a hidden door somewhere and we had to find it in seconds.

we couldn't split to cover more ground, so we had to go with our instincts. we made our way to the first door we found. as soon as he opened it, someone stabbed him in the shoulder. he fell to his knees and the person tried to stab him again, but i reached forward and held onto their wrists, where i pressed hard so they would drop the blade. the thud of metal colliding with the floor filled the silence of the room.

richard's groan of pain stole my attention. when i turned my head, his dad was standing behind him, pointing his gun towards me. no, not me, the person in front of me.

"let go of her." he said lowly. even i got scared.

my grip on the person loosened when i turned towards richard, so they shoved me and i nearly fell on him. i finally got to take a good look at the person.

"mom?"
