"Why would he just randomly show up for breakfast?" Lily asked me, "He must of had a reason?" She added. I had chosen to confide in Lily about the Ashton situation, as I felt she would maybe be the most understanding. I felt bad for not telling Michael, he was my best friend but I knew he would just tell me to stay away from Ashton, which right now was not what I wanted to do.

"I don't know," I said, pulling my school bag onto my shoulder, "we should probably get back to school," I sighed, standing up and dusting grass off of my skirt. We had gone out for lunch, and ended up sitting in a field nearby. Lily mirrored me, picking up her bag from the ground.

"Do you like him?" She asked me cautiously.

"I" , I paused to think about what she was asking me for a minute. Of course I thought I liked Ashton, as a friend. But I wasn't sure, I still didn't know enough about him. "He's hard to figure out." I smiled, starting to walk towards the school building.

She nodded her head, "I'm sure you'll suss him out," she said, giving me a reassuring smile as we walked through the school gates.

As soon as we walked through the gates, the first thing I saw was Ashton. He was sat on the grass just outside the school doors, he had his signature black jeans on, although it was around 30 degrees. But he was sat with a girl.

"You know," I said, turning to look at Lily as we approached the building, "I don't think I want to suss him out," she laughed, taking my arm and dragging me into school. I didn't even look at Ashton as we walked past, but I could almost feel his eyes piercing the back of my head, burning through my brown hair. "Who was she?" I asked, as we spiralled through the hallways, to the canteen.

"I have no idea," she muttered, "Although he didn't look very interested in her to be fair," she giggled, opening the door for me.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I laughed, although I knew what she meant.

"You so fancy him," she laughed, as we walked over to the table where Michael and Luke were sitting.

"I really don't," I rolled my eyes, although I felt my cheeks flush slightly.

We took a seat at the table, and I took an apple out of my bag, biting into it.

"Where have you two been?" Michael asked, looking awkwardly concerned, that's when I realised we had forgot to tell him we weren't staying at school for lunch.

"We went and sat in that field opposite school," I told him, "I totally forgot to tell you, I just needed to speak to Lily." I breathed, taking another bite out of my apple.

"What did you need to talk about?" He questioned, biting his nails nervously.

"None of your business," I winked, kicking him playfully under the table. He smirked at me, which signalled a 'tell me later' kind of vibe.

"Whatever," He giggled, rolling his eyes. By now Luke and Lily were enthralled in conversation which just left me and Michael. Suddenly Michael turned his head to the left, glancing over to the entrance of the canteen. He gulped and then looked back at me.

"What?" I said, turning my head around, for my eyes to be greeted with whatever Michael was staring at. It wasn't too much of a pleasant sight either, just Ashton and this stupid girl that seemed to be following him around like she was his pet. I felt extremely jealous of her, I didn't want to be jealous and I didn't know why I was jealous. I just was.

"Probably another one of his side chicks," Michael scoffed, turning back to look at me.

I nodded, trying to make light of the situation. Although I couldn't ignore the feeling in the pit of my stomach.
