"Hey Michael" I smiled, walking up the path to my house, he was sat on the grass outside, pulling strands out and making little piles of grass on his legs.
"Finally." He laughed, "I was beginning to think I was sat here for the good of my health." He rolled his eyes, squinting up at me because of the sun.
I sat down next to him, brushing the grass off that he'd placed on his legs.
"Sorry," I breathed, resting back on my arms and laying my legs in the sun light. "You could have just gone home you know, you didn't have to wait around for me."
"I know I didn't, I wanted to." He smiled.
"You're too good to me Michael," I grinned.
He laughed at me, "well it's not like I've got anything better to do." He giggled, sticking his tongue out at me.
"Maybe you should get a girlfriend." I said, suddenly. I had know idea why I said it because I knew Michael was incredibly awkward and would hate the idea, but part of me thought that maybe if Michael had a girlfriend, me and him would be known strictly as friends and it wouldn't ruin my chances with other boys.
"What made you say that?" He frowned. He looked incredibly insulted, I wasn't sure why.
"I didn't mean anything by it, I was just thinking." I said, laying back and resting my head on his chest.
"I think I'm okay for now." He breathed, putting his arm around me and pulling me closer into his side. I guess it was obvious why everyone always thought me and Michael were a couple, we kind of acted like it.
"That's cool," I nodded, sitting up slightly and pulling my sun glasses off my head on to my eyes. "Also Michael I have a job for you." I grinned.
"And what would that be," he smirked, resting back on his elbows.
"You're dying my hair for me this weekend."
His face lit up suddenly and the excitement shone in his eyes.
"I need to do mine too, we will do it together." He yelped excitedly, but then I suppose he was always excited when it came to his hair. "What colour?"
"I was actually thinking of putting some colour on the ends, you can choose?" I smiled, pulling Daisy's out of the grass and joining them up to make a necklace.
"Hmm leave it to me, I'll decide on something." He explained.
I nodded at him.
"In fact when are you free at the weekend?" He asked, "I'll get the dye and you can come over."
"Anytime," I said, truthfully.
"Wait Charlie, what are your parents going to think about you having coloured hair? You know what they think about mine, and I don't want to get you into trouble, especially because I will be choosing the colour and we will be dying it at my house, I don't want you getting into any trouble." He rambled,
"Michael Michael." I said, stopping him in the middle of his rant. "I don't care what they think anymore," I laughed. I sat up fully, crossing my legs one over the other and facing him. "I don't care if I get into trouble," I smiled.
"Well that's good." He grinned, taking my hands and placing them in his lap, "you know if it's ever bad at home you can come stay with me," he said, looking really genuine. I nodded at him, "My mum is working at the hotel practically all hours, so I don't think she will mind." He explained. "And you know my Dad won't care." He continued.
"I may just take you up on that offer sometime." I beamed, leaning in and wrapping my arms around his back. It was in this moment, wrapped in his body, that I hated myself for lying to Michael and not taking his advice. He was the only person that actually truly cared about me, and I constantly took that for granted.
