"Thanks for last night." I smiled as Ashton pulled up his car outside the gates of my house. "I don't know what I would have done without you." I thanked him, releasing my seatbelt. It was true, everything from last night was one huge blur, all I could remember is feeling pain and then warmth and I knew that the warmth came from Ashton.
"You could have gone to Michael." He sighed, trying to play his role down. Again.
"But that's different." I shrugged. It was true, maybe I could have gone to Michael. Michael was my best friend, he was the closest thing I had to someone that cared. Until Ashton.
"What, you mean it's different because you can't make out with Michael?" He winked, teasing me a little.
"No I.. I mean.. I don't know it's just different." I shrugged again.
"It's okay Charlotte I get it." He smiled reaching over and gently placing his hand on my leg. "Are you sure you want to go home? We could always drive somewhere else, or go back to mine? Whatever?"
"I need to make sure Jackson is okay." I breathed slowly, remembering all the stuff that happened last night. "I'll call you in a while though," I reassure him, opening the car door.
"Make sure you do." He said nonchalantly and I nodded back to him as I shut the car door and walked up to my front door, I looked back to see him waving from his car, I smiled and then opened the front door.

"Mum?" I called out, stepping through the front door.
There was no response, and the house was in total silence. I took out my phone from my bag, remembering that I had turned it off last night when I was with Ashton, but I didn't have any messages or missed calls, I sighed walking upstairs. Everything in my room was how I left it, my pyjamas thrown on the floor, I picked them up, folding them and putting them on my bed.
I thought about texting my mum but I didn't really want to know where she was. Part of me just wanted to forget everything that happened last night. It's okay you can do that,I told myself. If nobody shows up by tonight, that's when you start to worry, I thought, nodding my head I agreement with myself.
Suddenly my phone started buzzing and Michael's contact picture flashed up on the screen, my breathing steadied as I heard his soft voice on the other side of the line.
"Hey," he breathed, his voice sounded as if he just woke up and I couldn't help but smile.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked, getting into bed and pulling the covers up over me.
"Well, actually I kind of wanted to know what's up with you," he said, his voice speeding up a little.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused as to what he was talking about.
"Is everything okay Charl?" He breathed softly.
"Everything is fine Michael." I lied, my voice quivering a little. I didn't mean to lie to him, I just didn't want to face the truth myself right now.
"Well it's just.. my mum talked to your mum last night and she said your dad has left." He whispered, almost as if he didn't want it to be true either.
"Michael I.." I started, but my voice cracked and my throat stopped working properly like the feeling you get when you're about to cry but desperately trying to hold it back.
"It's okay." He whispered again, reassuring me. "It's okay Charlie, I'm on my way." He breathed into the phone.
"Wait, Michael." I stopped him before he hung up.
