I awoke the next morning to rain slashing the windows, and loud wind shaking the trees outside, my room was freezing but I felt kind of happy. I guess it was because it was Friday and absolutely nothing could ruin my good mood on a Friday. How could you be sad on a Friday. You just can't. The feeling of happiness did seem to fade slightly when I realised I'd slept too late and I only had 30 minutes to get to school.
Shit,I thought to myself jumping out of bed and running to the bathroom, I quickly got ready and threw on my uniform trying to look as presentable as possible in the little amount of time, my hands were shaking as I did up the buttons on my shirt and tried to tie my tie.
"Charlotte, I'm driving you both to school. Hurry up please" My Mum shouted sternly from downstairs. She seemed slightly happier then previous days, there was some sort of tune to her voice that she hadn't had in the past week, maybe my whole family were just Friday people, I thought smiling at the thought of how happy everyone used to be. Friday was always the best day of the week when we were younger, Dad would pick us up from school and we'd walk home together but we'd go the long way through the field and I'd pick flowers for mum and dad would joke about giving then to her when we got back home, but that was so long ago now. Sometimes I wish I was young again, everything was easier.
"Charlotte, stop day dreaming come on" Mum sighed, tapping me on the head lightely, and handing me my lunch.
"Urgh sorry'' I muttered, putting my lunch in my bag and then proceeding to grab my jacket and walk out of the door.
Mum followed slowly, she was looking skinnier then usual, frail even, and had really large bags under her eyes, no matter how much she had tried to hide them with make up she looked really tired, but at least she was smiling.
"Charlotte, you aren't going to your first lesson today love, I've arranged for you to go speak to someone about Jackson and the ridiculously stupid boy that hit him yesterday." She went on, putting the keys in the ignition and pulling out onto the road.
I looked over at Jackson wondering if he was okay with this, but he didn't say anything, he just looked out the window. So oblivious to the world.
"That's fine" I piped, at least it got me out of maths. My worst subject.
A few minutes later we pulled up outside school. The drive really wasn't long, but Mum had insisted on driving us because of the rain, which thankfully had stopped now and the sun had started breaking through the clouds shooting beams down.
"See you later, Mum." I said giving her a smile and grabbing my bag. "Come on Jackson"
"Have a nice day love" she waved back as me and jack walked through the gates.
We weren't late at all like I thought we were going to be, if anything we were earlier then usual.
"Are you okay with me speaking to a teacher about Finn beating you up?" I breathed slowly as we walked into the building, stroking Jackson's arm softly.
"Yeah, I'm coming though, I have physics first" he giggled slightly.
I laughed at him, smiling slightly. Partly because it was nice for him to be in a good mood, and partly because I realised how alike we both were, I hated physics aswell.
We walked up to reception and stood for ages behind a women who was complaining about her daughters report or something like that. She talked a heck of a lot and I actually wondered if she was ever going to finish, but after a while the lady working at the office got rid of her, in the nicest way possible.
"I'm here to see someone, about my brother, my mum rang up" I explained.
"Ah are you Charlotte then?" She asked, looking straight up into my eyes.
