Minerva's POV

I was in the middle of a class when I received a message from my brother's gay best friend Wayo. He's cute though but he's gay. Too bad. I wanna eat him up and hide him in my closet so no one can take him. So I forced him to make a promise to me if something happened to me to my baby brother Ming like my parents using him to close a business deal, he need to report it to me as soon as possible. They got the nerve to use my baby brother while I'm away.

Ming was too young to remember but when we were kids and not this damn rich, our parents always fight. Dad is always getting fired to his job because of his temper and mom always wash other people's clothes to get us by everyday. But no matter how hard life was for us back then, we were happy. We were together. We were eating together. We were laughing together. Regardless if my parents fight every time but at the end of the day, they make up to one another and sleep together in their room. Our poor life before may not be perfect, we may not have everything but we're happy.

It all started to change when my father landed a job in an international airport as one of the security guards. One of the arrivals was robbed within the terminal and he chased the robber and was able to caught him. To his surprise, the victim was the owner of the airlines. My dad graduated in Mass Communications and has a vocational course for secretarial services. The owner of the airline where he was working offered him a personal secretary position and gave him stock options.

He felt the he hit a jackpot. He started working hard and getting home late. Their fighting became worse than before. There were nights that dad didn't get home. Mom kept on crying in her sleep. Their distance together grew apart. Then one day, we were picked up by a chauffeur and we arrived to a big house. We were informed that starting that day we will be living in that house. My father went home on that day and informed us that the owner of their airlines died and he left all his assets to him since he treated him like a son. The owner did not have any family nor relatives to inherit it all. Then, his only choice was the man who was always there at the end, my dad. My mother made up with my dad since she saw how hard he work for all of us.

We didn't know what happened after that night. We thought that it will bring us together. But why our family grew apart instead? They are always away and there's not a single day that they go home and have a day off to spend time with us. The one who always with us is our Nana, our grandmother. I learned a lot from her and she taught me that since my parents were always away, I need to grow up and be a parent and not a sister to Ming. I threw away my dolls. I threw away my Barbies. Then, I started growing up. Learning martial arts like taekwando, learning how to cook with the of Nana, starting reading business books and watching business trades, stocks and investments in my high school years just in case if they will pass it on to Ming and I do not want my brother to take on that big responsibility on him and I want him to live the life he wanted. 

My parents' business grew and grew that we felt that they have been too greedy and wanted to get richer even more. I always see Ming crying at night, missing our parents so I comforted him since that's all I can do. I always tell him that I am here for him and I will never leave him or abandon him like they did to us. 

Nana died. My parent didn't even go to her funeral. We were left alone. They let dad's secretary do all the preparations. We were alone in the funeral home, Ming crying on my shoulders as I stare at Nana's dead body. That day, I decided that I will take over all their businesses and let Ming has the life he wanted. Ming and I, we only got each other. I will protect him with my life.  

Ming started to attend his grade school and I am already in high school. One day, I saw him being bullied by high school students from the school Ming is attending. That was my first time in using what I learned in taekwando. I ran up to them and gave them my famous round house kick and they fell on the ground and warned them to never lay a hand on my brother again. I started picking him up at the gate of their school to ensure his safety.

Ming was in his 3rd year high school when he was called by dad to join us in his one of the meetings. During the meeting, he started talking about fixed marriages for both us with their business partners' and we were speechless the entire time. I felt my fist clenched trying to control my anger since our "dad" is getting out the line.

Instead of fighting against him, I studied all the nicks of business trades. I used that advantage for the next meeting that he will bring us again to close a business deal by one of us marrying one of the children of his business partner. I met his business partner a day before the actual meeting without his knowledge. His business belittle my proposal but with all the knowledge I gained over time ever since I decided to throw away my dolls and barbies, I was able to close the deal. I brought the contract to my dad.

Minerva: Here's the contract with your business partner's signature. I closed the deal and all you need is to sign it to seal it for good.

My dad was speechless and he didn't argue back since everything for him is business. As long as I closed the deal without making any fuss, he will let it slide. I though that he will stop using us but he constantly use Ming and I as trading tools for business partnership. How disappointed I am to our parents. My mother didn't even care anymore as long as all of us are well off.

I made a drastic choice and I have to leave Ming in this big house. I need to get a degree to one of the well known prestigious university in US. I studied hard, sent my application, took the exam with business management as a course I chose. Luckily, I passed their validation and I passed their exam. That is not the hard part. The hardest one is leaving Ming.
