Iklas' POV
As the school gates is closing today, the reality of my father leaving sank in. I took a moment to compose myself before heading to my dad's room with Sallama trailing behind. "Hey, Dad, how was your night?" I inquired softly. "It was good, Iklas," he replied with a warm smile. "So, when will we get to see you again?" I asked, trying to hide the sadness in my voice. "Insha'Allah, less than two months," he assured me. I couldn't help but wrap my arms around him in a tight hug, whispering, "I'll miss you, Dad." "I'll miss you too, Iklili na," he whispered back, his voice filled with love.

After bidding my father a heartfelt farewell, I made my way downstairs, my eyes glistening with unshed tears. Mus'ab, always the tease, caught sight of me and couldn't resist poking fun. "Why the long face, sis?" he chuckled. "You look funny when you cry." I shot him a playful glare, retorting, "Oh, hush. You're not much to look at when you're laughing either." With a grin, he promised to pick me up after school, a gesture that warmed my heart. Thanking my bro, I made my way to the dining room, my mind filled with a mix of emotions.

As I stepped onto the school grounds, the familiar faces of Hanan, Amal, and Ifty greeted me with open arms. Their warm hugs momentarily eased the ache in my heart. Just then, I caught sight of Ya Alim making his way towards us, his presence sending my heart into a frenzy. Each step he took closer seemed to quicken the beat of my heart, a sensation I couldn't control whenever he was near.

"Hey," he talk to  Hanan, "Can I borrow your phone for a bit?" Hanan, curious, asked, "What for, big bro?" She handed him the phone without a word.

"Oh, hi Iklas," he acknowledged me briefly before turning to greet Amal and Ifty, then he left. "So rude," I thought to myself.

During assembly, the principal announced that we would receive our results next Friday. I was thrilled because I would get to see Ya Alim that day, along with my besties.

After the assembly, we found a spot, sat down, chatted, and took selfies. Sulaiman joined us, and we continued taking pictures until we grew tired. Then Hanan suggested a group hug, and we all joined in. Ya Alim then playfully handed the phone to Hanan and left. I was mesmerized watching him until he disappeared. Thankfully, Amal, Ifty, and Sulaiman weren't paying attention to me, but it seemed like Hanan picked up on something.

Mus'ab parked his car and walked over to where we were staying. "Hello, ladies," he greeted. "How are you, beautiful?" he said, looking at Hanan. "Fine, handsome," she replied as they both chuckled. Just then, Ya Alim made another grand entrance, exchanging greetings before they excused themselves to find a place to sit. They chatted and laughed while I couldn't help but admire Ya Alim, the way he laughed was just so captivating, MashaAllah.

I tried to look away, but I couldn't. I adored everything about him - his smile, his brown eyes, his pink lips. I found it hard to control myself whenever I gazed at him. After their conversation, Mus'ab suggested we leave. I hugged my besties once more before waving them goodbye, stealing one last glance at Ya Alim before getting into the car.

I finally mustered the courage to ask Mus'ab why he befriended Ya Alim, considering he was older. Mus'ab explained that Ya Alim was new and didn't have many friends. When I was in SS2, I found him sitting alone on a swing. I approached him and struck up a conversation. "Hey, kid," I said. "Hello," he replied. "What's your name?" "Alameen." "Why are you alone?" I asked. "I dislike my classmates," he confessed. "Can we be friends?" I proposed. "Yes," he happily agreed, and from then on, during breaks, he was always with us in class.
