Iklas pov

"Finally, we're back to school today, so I jump out of bed, shower, get dressed, and head downstairs. 'Good morning, Mum,' I greet her with a kiss on the cheek. 'How was your night?' she asks. 'Alhamdulillah,' I reply. 'Your breakfast is on the dining table.'

After breakfast, Hanan texts that she's outside our house. 'What?' I exclaim, surprised. 'She just wants to pick me up.' 'Okay then,' I say happily. 'Mom, I'm off with Hanan; she's here to get me.' 'Okay, take care.'

As I step out of the gate, I spot a Mercedes Benz E-Class across the street. 'Hmm, so Hanan's family is not playing around,' I mutter to myself as I make my way over. 'Where did Hanan get this whip?' I joke as I approach the car. Just then, I see Ya Alim behind the wheel. 'Innalillahi,' I gasp in shock. I never imagined they were together. 'OMG, Ya Alim driving a Benz! Wow, just wow,' I whisper to myself. Hanan teases, 'You're going to say that to him, not me.' I chuckle and hop into the car, greeting Ya Alim with a smile, and he smiled back.
His smile, oh, it's everything to me."

As we arrived at the parking lot, a girl approached Ya Alim, causing us to retreat swiftly. With a head shake, we exited the car, feeling a sense of shock. "Innalillahi," we gasped, rushing back to the safety of the car as the girl returned with a large group of girls in tow. "Wallahi, I think there are more than 30 of them!" I exclaimed in disbelief. The girls were in awe of Alim's new car, shouting praises as they made their way towards us. "Ya Allah, what's gotten into them?" Alim muttered, fumbling to lock the car in haste.

"We're in big trouble," I whispered, my heart feeling like it had been pierced as they closed in, chanting "Alim, Alim, you have a Mercedes Benz!" and one even declaring "You're the best!" The attention was overwhelming. Suddenly, I found myself cracking the window slightly, unable to contain my frustration. "Don't you have anything better to do? You're acting as if you're not even girls!" I called out to them. They shot me sharp glares, retorting, "None of your business." Just then, Ya Alim intervened, calmly requesting, "She's right, could you please leave?" They shot me one last glare before begrudgingly walking away, leaving behind a lingering sense of animosity.

As Hanan and I prepared to leave, my name echoed through the air as Ya Alim called out to me. "Ya Allah, it's not the first time he's said my name, but it sounds so sweet," I thought to myself, feeling a rush of emotions. "Uhhmm," I stammered, mustering the courage to express his gratitude. "Thanks for today," He managed to say. "The pleasure is mine," i replied with a warm smile, and he couldn't help but return the smile, captivated by the genuine warmth it exuded. "Wow, I love that smile," I whispered to myself, savoring the moment.

As we were heading into class, Fadila came up to me, giving me that look. She was like, "Iklas, why are you always hanging out with Alim? Heard you two rolled up in his ride. You trying to cozy up 'cause he's got car now?" I was taken aback, feeling a mix of emotions. Before I could even respond, she went on, "He's not your type at all. Stay away from him." Hanan, always ready to jump in, added, what if she don't?
"She'll see the consequences if she doesn't listen." Then, out of nowhere, Hanan dropped the bomb, saying she'd rather have me as a sister-in-law than Fadila. The tension was real as Fadila just brushed it off and walked away.

Amal and Ifty came running, hugging me tight. "Missed you guys so much!" I exclaimed. They echoed the sentiment, sharing the love.

After the snooze fest of biology and chemistry classes, we rushed to the cafeteria for a breather.

Food finally on our plates, I spotted Alim chilling in a chair. Guess who was beside him? Fadila, all chatty, and then she did the unthinkable – she held his hand and planted a peck on his cheek. My heart sank, and without realizing it, "Innalillahi" slipped out of my mouth. My besties noticed my distress and followed my gaze. They missed the peck but saw Alim pulling away from her. They gasped in shock.

Tears welled up as I watched Alim ask her to leave. It stung, really stung. I whispered to myself, "It hurts, it really hurts." It's not even just the hand-holding, that's normal in school, but that peck... I can't shake off the image of Fadila laying her lips on Alim. 😭💔

Hanan's eyes widened as she swiftly turned to me, a concerned look on her face. "Don't tell me you're crying!" she exclaimed. I hurriedly brushed away my tears, trying to compose myself. "Oh no, why would I?" I replied. She continued, "So you're jealous?" while fixing her gaze on me. I couldn't help but chuckle and responded, "It's just that it's haram to touch a boy or girl that's not your muharram." Hanan nodded, accepting my explanation, though I could tell she harbored doubts, choosing to let it slide for the moment.

After the break, we made our way back to the classroom for our English lesson. The English teacher, known for being quite irksome, made the double period seem like an eternity. As the class finally came to an end, the next teacher, the further maths teacher, took over. Today's topic was logarithms, a subject I particularly enjoyed, so I focused intently on the lesson. As the double period concluded, signaling the end of the school day, we prepared to leave for home.

Exiting the classroom hand in hand, we found a spot to sit and wait for our drivers. Suddenly, a new car approached us. As it parked nearby, a familiar figure emerged from the vehicle. To my surprise and delight, it was Abdulrahman, my beloved cousin! Overwhelmed with joy, I let out a loud exclamation and rushed to embrace him tightly, grateful for his unexpected visit.

When I left the class, I spotted my sister chatting with her friends. Suddenly, I heard Iklas scream so loudly and saw her embracing someone tightly. In that moment, I felt the urge to punch that guy's face! He was grinning like an idiot, so I decided to just walk away from the scene.

After I let go of the hug, I quickly called my besties over and introduced him to them. "Besties, this is my lovely cousin, Abdulrahman," I said. They exchanged greetings, and Abdulrahman mentioned the long journey from Abuja to Kano. He shared how he used Google Maps to find the school and pick me up. I couldn't help but say, "Aww, thank you, Darling," to which he just laughed.

After bidding my friends goodbye, Abdulrahman and I headed home.

I don't know why I got so worked up earlier when I saw Iklas hugging someone. Why would she just hug him, even if he's her relative? She can't just hug him like that!

But why do I even care? When we got home, I quickly headed to my room, took a shower, and then put on my black shirt and black pants before heading downstairs for lunch.

After lunch, the whole situation kept bothering me, so I decided to ask Hanan, "Who is that guy that Iklas hugged?" Hanan looked at me and burst into a series of laughter. Ya Allah, I really regret asking. I quickly stood up, but Hanan stopped me, saying, "Wait, wait." She then said while hiding her laughter, "He is her cousin, his name is Abdulrahman." I just nodded and left the place. Even though he is her cousin, she shouldn't have hugged him like that, and I'm still upset with her.
