I was stunned by his sudden appearance. Questions flooded through my head. Why is he here? And before I can ask those questions, he hugged me tight.
It was one long hug. The hug that I missed a lot. The hug that splashes my emotions through. The hug that made me felt that there is still hope. The hug that reminds me of home.
“I watched you during the reaping’s reruns on TV. I was so shocked.” His voice. Still the same old voice but I cannot remember it anymore.
“Marvel…” I looked at his attire. District one. With the pink suit and feathers and jewels, his looks were highlighted with a dab of color.
“I was reaped in one.” He was still in shock, and we stayed in the hug for a long time till I let go.
I can see tears through the thick make-up he had. And I think Grifly might be hollering at me when he sees my make up smudged by tears.
“The parade’s about to start, better wipe your tears pink boy.” I managed to ease a smile, but inside I’m dying. Does this mean that one of us or both of us are going to die? As I walked towards Blaron and the others, he tugged my arm and gave me a kiss.
The kiss. A long one. But not a kiss of nothing. A kiss of misery. I know he’s also confused.
“Sixteenth floor. After dinner. Meet me at the balcony” he whispered in my ear, then he walked off and disappeared like wind.
Then everything’s such a blur. I can’t think straight. All I’m thinking about now is Marvel.
All I remember is Ilignma getting crazy because I went missing and the chariot getting closer and closer to the dome of screaming crazy Capitol citizens.
It was so loud, screaming with various colors, all shouting to be heard. My outfit is really giving them the thing they wanted. We were sparkling and glowing, the glitters’ shimmer gave me a boost.
Then everyone were pointing at us and pointing at others and I was really dizzy. Good thing Blaron managed to hold me before I slipped in the decorative holes of the chariot. Then we assembled in the city circle, and a bearded guy, who must be President Snow, talked about the Hunger Games and wished us goodluck. Then I looked at Marvel. Marvelous Marvel in his pink suit and feathers and jewels laughing with his district partner, not caring to glance at me. And suddenly we all entered the training center, and the minute the doors closed, my vision blacked out.
