Shivaay was at the venue where the ceremony was to be held. It was almost time for the ceremony and he had a small hope somewhere in a corner in his heart that Annika would arrive, all though his brain spoke the opposite that Annika would never come here.
Pinky walked into the venue just then, all happy flashing her teeth to everybody she met on the way as she walked up to Shivaay who was standing in between the rows of chairs. Shivaay was looking far behind his mom to see whether Annika had come with her. But to his dismay he saw none. He was left very much disappointed, the small hope he had to see her here vanished into thin air. His face spoke what he was going through, he looked detached and very sad.
"Oh My Mata what happened Billu? Why are you looking so drained out, Arent you happy seeing your mom here" Pinky asked with a wicked grin
"Nothing like that mom, come sit here" Shivaay said holding her hand and leading her to a seat, few rows behind the front row, where he'd be sitting with the other professors.
"Looks like you are missing my bahu billu" Pinky spoke with a teasing smile
"Mom please stop it, I know she's busy" Shivaay replied, irritated with his mom's constant bantering.
Yes he was truly very very much disappointed on not seeing her here. But he knew, it wasn't Annika's fault at all, she was a busy lady who had a lot of lives to save, who had dedicated her very life to them and he was proud of having someone like that in his life. But this poor organ called his heart was too stubborn to understand it. He really wanted her to be here with him when he'd climb the stage to take away that award which he had worked hard for.
On the other side he knew, It was really his fault for expecting her to spent her time with him, in which could save a life. Just because he wanted her to be here, didn't anyway make her oblidged towards him. She had her own life and he could never ever intrude into it with his own selfish demands.
"Shivaay come here soon" Sid shouted from behind asking Shivaay to take his seat as it was almost time for the ceremony to begin.
"Yeah coming" Shivaay signalled him and walked to the front near the stage where seats were allocated for the professors from colleges all over North India.
Shivaay was walking forward when he felt the atmosphere changing around him all of a sudden. His heart started fluttering, something within him said she was here. He turned back eagerly to see if she was here, but no she wasn't here. He scanned every corner of the hall to see if he could spot her but, nope, she wasn't here. It had been his imagination and he had been fooled yet again.
"Shivaay" Sid shouted again
He removed the thought that Annika would be here completely and walked towards Sid very much hurt. His heart was aching very much and he didn't know why.
"What happened Shivaay? Why are you looking grumpy" Sid asked concerned seeing, shivaay completely disinterested.
"Nothing yaar Sid," Shivaay replied trying to put off the topic.
"If you don't wanna tell me it's ok Shivaay" Sid replied with a genuine smile holding Shivaay's shoulder to which Shivaay smiled back in response. He didn't want to reveal anything going on in between him and Annika to anyone. Whatever it was, it was only in between them.
"Annika" Sid spoke with a big smile looking behind Shivaay
"What Annika?" Shivaay questioned confused on Sid taking her name
"What kind of a man are you Shivaay? Your wife is here and you don't even receive her. I'll go and make her sit" Sid spoke mocking Shivaay and walked off smiling at someone.
