Chapter 20 - Telling Them
Spencer
I sigh and grab Toby's hand, closing my eyes to after staring at my house's door.
"Are you sure?" Toby asks and I nod. "If you want, I can just go home."
"Toby." I say "We need to do this."
He nods and I take a deep breath.I open the door.My parents are in the couch.My dad gasp.My mom's eyes widen.I hold Toby's hand stronger than before.
"Hey mom...hey dad." I say, nervous.My parents get up.Toby walks to them.
"Mr. Hastings, Mrs.Hastings." Toby compliments them. "Hi."
"Hello Toby." My mom smiles.
"Hi." My dad says.I walk to them too.
"We-we are here to tell you that..." I take a deep breath.Toby looks at me, worried.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm." I smile to him. "We are here to tell us that Toby is my boyfriend."
"Spencer." My dad says.
"Spence, are you happy with him?" My mom asks.
"More than ever." I smile to her.
"If he makes you happy..." Mom smiles too.
"Veronica, what are you thinking?" Dad exclaims, seeming outraged.Toby and I move back. "Spencer..."
"Dad, can we talk in the kitchen for a minute?" I say.We both walk to the kitchen.
"Look, I love him.When I am with Toby, all the problems are gone.Dad, please." I am crying.
"No.There's no way you'll date him." he says, angry.
"Dad..."
"Go to your bedroom.Now." he orders.I look at him.The tears are coming again.So, is this?Okay.
Suddenly, a new feeling is inside me.A mix of anger, revolt and pain.I grab my purse and my phone.
"You know what?You made me lose Toby.But you are losing me too."
I make my way to the door and give a look to Toby, my dad and my mom.Then, I get out and get in my car.I can see Toby in the door, making his way to his car.Without looking back, I start to drive.
